This. Do something, like the rest of us. Don't just sit there and complain that you're too lazy to "commute" :stongue: to another website.

I love the logistics being prescribed here. For example, TA pundits recommend going to Beatport, hearing a sample, then opening another browser to go to Youtube and type in the songs name and see how it sounds. Going to Beatport finding another sample, and then going to Youtube again hoping the song is there again. O wait, its not there, its a new release, and hasnt been whored to YOutube yet. And why would anyone want to do the commute between the two sites, and wait for Youtube's load times? Might as well try to bone a wine glass.

Lets eventually get 3 or 4 minute BP samples going and be done with it. There is more reason to have longer samples than there are to not have them. Its almost disrespectful to not only the labels and artists, but to the consumers to have to buy music based off this little 2 minute sample, of a 7 up to 12 or more minute track.

Kismet that's ridiculously lazy. Why not take the extra 30 seconds and lsiten to the damn thing on youtube first if you can? If you're happy to spend your money without researching first, more power to you. When I shop I've got like 4 browser windows running, minimum

Ever heard of the term...time is money? When purchasing music, why would I or anyone want to search Youtube for dozens of songs a month, to make up for samples that are not long enough, and are often exclusively on Beatport? Consumers should have good samples directly from the place that any mass purchasing happens. Especially a product which is based on quality and taste, case by case. Would you buy shirts and pants based on only seeing 25% of them? How about hats lol? How about fruit at the supermarket? That 75% you cant see might be really fuzzy lol. If people could see more of what they are buying, they would not only buy more of it, but also buy the best that is available.

If you or other BP users are having to go to other sites and other music providers to hear better or longer samples, then that is good example of Beatport potentially losing business because its not offering a one stop shop solution. So thanks for being the perfect example of one of the issues involved with short samples, and Beatport and its partners possibly losing business because of it. Can I get yet another...Check Mateee. :D

For the record, you're the only person I've seen have more than a minor beef about this. Sample length is, nine times out of ten, last on the list of complaints I hear about BP.

He has a release out on Rebirth that's not selling, and he's obviously under the delusion that people listening to longer samples of his track is going to do any good.

Actually I was quite happy with the samples at Beatport for my release, It was my first response to Rebirth when I heard them. I thought they nailed it. This has very little to do with me, and if as usual you did not have your head up your ass, you would realize these ideas are for the benefit of the whole industry (no surprise a moron like you would be against). Not just for a release or two of mine every few months. Given the dynamics of everything involved i'd imagine my release is selling decently. Hence, I got the very first remix i've done for anyone, signed to their forthcoming Essentials Compilation. While you keep sucking away on a forum. Its funny you engage in ideas to show intelligence, yet your day to day activity is purely idiotic.

Creative people usually are the ones with new ideas, you know..the innovators of the things you enjoy in life. I create wherever I am, for any situation. So I dont blame you for being a herd follower waiting for people to come up with ideas you can follow en masse, and too slow to jump on a great new idea until you've seen a ton of people join in. And it looks like you've given up your defense, since you and the team were check mated, using my own reasoning no less lol.
woscar
Yeah, thanks for innovating and .

Even though you're a troll, you're welcome.

You've failed to defend your crap argument, which fell apart on itself, since it proved one of my points, now you're trolling my music.

And I love how you avoid quoting a whole post, obviously because its full of truth. And lets be honest for once, would'nt pathetic be a good word to describe a music forum troll? On a daily basis for the past few years, If you're someone who has to take out your anger on MUSIC of all things, then I dont know if it gets more pathetic than you buddy. Lets be honest, trolling music, artists, and people who enjoy music, whatever music it might be, is your idea of good time spent, pathetic no?

I'd like longer Beatport samples. Beatport has the largest catalogue out there, and I'm often buying obscure stuff that you can't find on Youtube or elsewhere. Two minute samples may be cool if you're listening to loopy tech house nonsense, but the tracks I like visit a lot of places in 8-10 minutes and I'm often left wishing for longer and more representative samples. I've bought a few tracks that I've been dissatisfied with because of small Beatport samples.

The sample sizes have gone up, though, and I expect them to go up again in the near future.

*sigh*

I'm not defending "my argument" because I never had one to begin with. None of us are trying to prove that longer samples are not needed, all that's being said by idoru, Mark Anthony and myself is that there are other alternatives and that they only require that someone is not that ing lazy while shopping. Would it be nice to have longer samples? Yes. Is it essential to have longer samples? No.

I didn't quote your whole post because it was not needed to prove my point, that ending your internet discussions with "check mate" is pretty damn pathetic.
