How badly out of sync is it? A few ms? |
It varies.
For instance, if I play a 2 bar arp (any arp) it goes out of sync usually half way through the bar, the first time its small (like 10-15ms) but it happens faster and faster and the timing becomes more and more off it seems.
Like 3/4 bar it'll be 30-35ms then it happens quicker and quicker and gets worse and worse out of sync till I restart.
Its not seldom though, happens on every arp around half way through the bar, then on pads a bit later but it happens w/out fault everytime. |

I've had the "out of sync" problem a few times, but basically all I have to do is stop and start the track once or twice and it goes away. It usually happens when I stop and start the track real fast. Just let the CPU meters calm down a bit, and its fine. Its uncommon at best.
Also, DO NOT plug the TI into a USB Hub. Access is very specific about this. |
Nope its in a USB 2.0 port, some people were saying the 1.1 ports can cause it but I checked and they're all high speed. And its not a hub, my hubs are in the front of the computer.
I can start/stop the track indefinitely and it happens same as before everytime.
I read first to switch to asio, when I did that it DID help because originally arps were playing out of sync on the first beat. Switching to asio just pushed it back to half bar.
I also read if you drop the time signature it may help, tried 6 different sigs none changed anything.
The ONE thing that did work, was when I use the Virus Asio Driver, and you can see it plays completely in sync, but no volume comes out of my speakers. You can see the sound in the meters but you cant hear it. Is there a way to use the Virus Asio Driver so sound comes out? Thats the last thing I googled but couldnt find.. |

I've only had the sync problem when using the Virus' arps and, like Eric, I tend to get it when I start/stop in quick succession and, particulalry, when I start in the middle of an arp sequence, rather than at the beginning (i.e., on a trigger note). |
Yeh hmm doesn't seem to matter with mine.
Because there was a of times I was going back and forth reading tuts as it was happening, and the second I restared the arps it happened at the same frequency everytime.
Its annoying because thats the LAST thing I need to fix, but still the most important to me. PDC in FL worked fine so everything is on time (never had to use it before) but one it goes out of sync it doesnt matter anymore cause its a mess. |

you DO know that there's a really big latency issue with TIs and FL right?
you need to set plugin-delay-compensation manually with FL, cause most other DAWs do it automatically...
if you set that, you should be right :) |

Yep thank you I have the PDC fixed, that went as easy as it could have.
The problem I'm talking about is the virus playing out of sync, not the PDC. It will all play completely in sync (because of PDC) at first, but the TI (not sure if you have one) displays a red "out of sync warning" on the bottom.
And when that happens, theres no way to compensate because it gets more and more out of control as the patch plays.
I've tried a ton of different settings, and I'm thinking it has to be USB related (maybe I have to assign more bandwith to that port?) but I'm not sure what to do, and how exactly to do it. I'm learning more as I read but its def a huge sticking point now cause nothing has seemed to rectificy it (so far). |

Wow ok I "accidentally" found something that works, I'm just not sure what I'm doing so can someone explain if its gonna affect anything?
I was still interested in experimenting with the "Virus USB ASIO Driver" but was getting no sound, although everything was playing in sync.
So when I looked at the mixer it said the sound was being routed out of the virus, I was confused at first, but then put the headphones on my virus and walah, my entire mix is now being routed through the virus.
So using it this way, it plays complete in sync, but what the hell am I doing? Am I now using the virus sound card by doing that? And what I'm most concerned about, can this stress the virus? By routing the whole mix through it.
I didn't read a single anything that mentioned doing this, came upon it my accident but it works. I just wanna make sure I'm not harming anything.. thanks |

HAHA this is awesome everything works fvcking great now!!!
Ok so I won't be getting a refund now. I can't even force the virus out of sync no matter how big the patch, whether its an arp, pad or anything.
So that completely solved the problem 100%. My previous question still flies though, just wanna make sure I'm not hurting my virus =].. if anyones knows thanks |

why not spend a week on it instead of a few hours and make your decision then
Also lose the running commentary;) |

Well I have no problems now really so no reason to get a refund. I saw a lot of people who were saying "I bought my TI last year/summer and it still doesnt work (talking about the same sync issue)" so I was planning on getting a refund if I couldn't solve that by next week.
Now I'm pretty content though, so I'll shut up. Can finally look forward to working on my first TI track tommorow, just no more time tonight. Thanks and goodnight everyone who tried to help!! (including ergos lol) |
