Clinical depression is an actual mental illness that a lot of people suffer from. There are chemical imbalances that make it harder for some people to be happy. It can send people into delusions and sometimes even hallucinations.
Your personal opinion on the matter is absolutely ridiculous. You wouldn't be mad at a person with down's syndrome for not being able to function normally, so why would you get angry with someone who has a different mental condition who can't control their feelings?
It has nothing to do with being selfish. These people suffer day in and day out because they are physically ill. It is selfish of the people around them to think that they should just suck it up and be happy. Actually committing suicide has little to do with anyone except for that persons desire to relieve themselves of the pain that they go through.
Saying that you understand what it's like to be depressed to the extent of considering suicide is utter bull if you cannot understand this. Being really sad is not the same as a ing mental illness. |
Shut up.
I know that clinical depression is a physical illness, it is also a treatable illness and people who have it very much know the signs of it. |

If there is anyone who needs to shut the up right now, it is you. You are being a disrespectful when people are clearly upset about a persons death. You are a ed up little twit and clearly know all about clinical depression if you think that someone with it can just easily pick themselves up and go get help.
you. |

| It's also pretty selfish to focus on your own grief when someone else was clearly suffering a lot more than you understand, or even bother to. |

Which doesn't mean they can do something about it. Or, better yet, it doesn't mean they will feel they should do something about it.
I see this theme will keep popping up again and again. If we're to discuss it here, maybe we should just cover our posts so we can talk amongst ourselves and not bother those that are mourning his death. |

Hard to believe he passed.
I remember all those funny chops of him with Melly on the tricycle. I think that was him?

You're right... I am a little emotionally riled up about the whole thing and it infuriates me that someone would have the audacity to run their mouths and spew a bunch of bull about an incredibly sensitive topic they are clearly uneducated on. |

Unfortunately, this kind of problem is still seen as some sort of taboo in our culture, and his opinion is actually quite common. Maybe the extremely optimist accounts of free will that's been handed down to us by Christianity also includes the failure to recognise mental states as being as serious as physical illnesses.
So much for loving one another. |
