If you knew anything about DA or the people around him, he knew and the ones around him knew that he had problems. I don't know if anyone tried to get him help, I assume they did, and I don't know if he ever tried to get help, but he made choices that definitely did not help himself. |

Are you not reading what I wrote?
DA was different and it wasn't just a front. He seemed much happier the last year.
A year ago this week Lis invited DA, Ambs and myself (even though I already knew) over to dinner. She broke the news to us that she was pregnant and DA was so happy for her.:(
It hurts Lis and I alot especially when we think about the beautiful girl that was brought into our lives and the friend we just lost. :( |

You know, Cliff, deciding to kill yourself is not as trivial and simple as choosing whether or not you're going to have fries for dinner.
Looking on the bright side, I feel happy for you: you're obviously clueless about depression and I bet you've never really felt it in your heart, even if you think you have. Should you ever feel clinically depressed you'll understand what were talking about. |

I am not clueless about depression. I have a realistic view of suicide.
If you are not hurt by his actions then what are you? He didn't have a terminal illness, clinical depression is NOT terminal. You can get help if you have, you could get him help if he needed it.
Mel, it sucks, I feel bad for you, and you know its legitimate that he was "looking better" or "sounding better" but if he had made these sort of threats in the past, which he had, we had all seen it, then you can NEVER take your eyes off of him. If he made these motions then you have to get them help. You never ever doubt someone when they talk about suicide.
Remember what he was, but remember that he hurt you in the end. Thats a horrible way to view it, but its the realistic and truthful way of looking at it. Otherwise you do not stigmatize suicide. You need to stigmatize suicide the same way you stigmatize other violent crimes.
So sorry if I am offending any of you, but grow up and take a realistic, unbiased view of suicide and you will see where I am coming from. Thats not something you can do now, but in a few months or a year step back and go "OK let me look at what Raul did, and how do I feel about it." |
