Last year, our warehouse hired four residents of a halfway house. Two are still with us. One of them had spent fifteen years in prison for lewd conduct with a minor, someone he thought was twelve. After exiting prison he was sent to this halfway house for the next three or four years. For that period, he will be working in our freezer for eight hours a day; layers of jackets followed by a full-body suit for the -10 to -20 degrees. More than likely, he will be stuck here after his release back into the real world; after all, he has a job with us already, but what other company is going to hire someone with his record? He's stuck in that freezer until he retires.
