I agree but, unless we've got actual proof that he financed an illegal activity, or did something illegal himself, we just can't jump on his throat.
Don't get me wrong, Eric, I think child abuse is horrendous, but it's probably just an unfunny joke in this case, otherwise he'd probably have kept it to himself.

Eric is just a reactionary twat, the same as the rest of the sheep in the world who are easily exploited by "think of the children" and "those durn turrists" to get their rights slowly chipped away from them.
Its been a mantra on /. that Child Pornography and Terrorism are the keys to the Constitution, I believe its the same in Canada and Australia. Look at New Zealand, they just implemented full net filtering on their major ISP to catch "pedophiles." Australia has been working to do the same for a couple of years now.
Pedophilia is wrong, but fight the root cause, the child molesters. Once you begin to limit free speech, such as possession of photos, texts, or videos you are on a slippery slope.
Once again, I am not debating molesting children as being wrong or not. It most definitely is. But its using that crime as a justification to start doing that will lead to places like the US and Canada as having the same internet "safeguards" as China or Iran.
Look at countries like the Netherlands, child pornography was legal there, even the production of it (which should be wrong) till 1996 I believe. Its not like that country was full of child rapists... You can not correlate possession of an item to the commitment of another act. You can make assumptions, and maybe odd connections, but there is little proof anything ties one to the other. Correlation does not equal causation. |
