Broduer...21 shots...3 goals let in.
Another game he DOESN'T steal. And ANOTHER year the Devils can't go anywhere in the playoffs.
If I'm Lou I consider really shaking up the Devils in the offseason. The current Elias-Langenbrunner core worked before the lockout. Now it's a complete joke.
Broduer is moving into the "has-been" era with series like these. And that point is not debatable. When you lose in the first round to a Flyers team that backed into the playoffs, and is missing Carter/Gagne right now, and lose the series 3-0 at home...you SUCK. |

What you're suggesting is irrational and borderline idiotic. Aside from Tuesday's match, the first three games were 1-1 and 2-1 games after regulation time was up. He's doing everything he can as a goalie, short of scoring goals and taking shots on Boucher lololol... He can't win a game if his boys up front ain't scoring more than 1 or 2 tops and his D is hanging him out to dry... Boucher is coming off the ice every game having faced 14-20 shots tops; our boys aren't doing enough to complement Brodeur's amazing performance. |
Shot that the Devils took for all the games in this series:
Game 1 - 24
Game 2 - 33
Game 3 - 19
Game 4 - 31
Game 5 - 28
So only one of of the five games fit into that 14-20 range you talked about, and that one was on the high end. Where did you get your numbers from?
Brodeur didn't steal a single game in this series. He sucked. But you'll never admit it since you're such a homer.

You can debate anything. We can diminish all of the "Original Six" achievements and Stanley Cup wins and say they're not that important because they were during a time where there were less teams to compete with. We can debate whether or not the Ovi's and Crosby's are THAT good, given that they can now score goals in overtime and their numbers are inflated. We can debate all of the numbers and anything in the world, but there's no point in it, it's really kinda senseless... He has his numbers that speak for him, so give him the credit he deserves... Not asking you to call him the Greatest, but at least consider him a Great. |
I did call him great. Check back a couple pages ago.

How would you even know that? Your "points" completely rely on what-if's, your personal opinions, and hypothetical scenarios. Would the Rangers have won the Stanley Cup in 94 if Mark Messier never left the Oilers? See how dumb a question or discussion about something like that is? There's no point even discussing it.. Would Gretzky have been the Great One if his grandparents had never emigrated from Europe? What if Mario Lemieux's parents didn't have sex the night he was conceived, and he was never born?!?! Dumb pointless conversations, dude... |
A lot of sports discussion resolves around what ifs. Take the NFL draft last night for example...commentators on ESPN were constantly talking about if a team traded up their pick, what would happen, or what if a certain player fell to a later round. Who are you to tell everyone that no speculative talk can be had, because it's all "pointless"?
| quote: |
How are Marty Turco and Miikka Kiprusoff even relevant to the discussion? Have they beat the shutouts record, win record, 40+ point seasons record, most games played record, playoff shutouts record, AND won 3 Stanley Cups????
No, so why are you even bringing them into the equation, it really has nothing to do with the conversation at hand. You're talking about pretty good goalies while I'm talking about a legend... |
Here's how they are relevant: you're basing Brodeur's greatness in the past couple years off of regular season accomplishments. You even mentioned some of them above (check what I bolded). What has he done in the post-season recently? Nothing but lead his team to mediocre quarter and semifinal defeats against awful teams.
Turco and Kipper are relevant because they too used to be great regular season goalies, and then they couldn't get it done in the playoffs, like Brodeur hasn't been able to do for the past 6-7 years. |

osterzone...
Really obvious your a Brodeur/Devils hater.
Anyways...
I wouldn't be surprised if Kovy ends up going across the river to the hole Rangers. He would fit that scrub team pretty well. Man can handle the puck and score some goals but for sake try putting it else where then the five hole. I think we were a lot better with keeping Bergfors and the Z-Z-Pops line together than this nonsense. I'm not a hockey coach but what the is Lemaire thinking with all these stupid line changes? Wouldn't it be a smart idea to keep Parise/Zajac/Lagen together in the play-offs since they were like that the majority of the season?
Players who were great in the playoffs..
1. Brodeur (his save in game 4 with the open net was spectacular)
2. Zubrus (only offensive player who hustled/tried)
3. Greene (great puck control and will play OFFENSE)
4. Rolston (old but strong shots from the point/hustles)
5. Mcammond (great energy and great puck control most of the series)
6. Mottau (stupid at times but overall pretty decent when we needed him) |

I'm not a Devils hater. I think they're the best run team in pro sports and I wish the Rangers were run like them.
I just think Brodeur right now, at this point in his career, is really overrated. |

| could be his time is up, or he is in a slump. He hasnt been all that but he isnt that bad. I mean you need a solid netminder to make it to the playoffs. |

| Kovy is going to Russia I think. They offerd 10 mill a year for like 12 years...he just sucked with the Devils. And some of the line changes did not make sense. Martin kept em in it, but the team sucked big time. Something was going on in the Locker room that killed the MoJo... |

The KHL is almost dead. That "I'm going to Russia" ship sailed long ago. |

+1, he's hungry for a cup... Given some of his interviews, it's possible he actually might stay in New Jersey. I'm not putting my money on that, but as far as staying in the NHL, I think he will.. |
