god forbid we actually have sovreignty for ourselves and are able to rely less on every left wingers favourite scape goat, the united states!
Good on the government for fixing decades of neglect and embarrassment. It actually got to a point not too long ago where canada was almost kicked out of NATO because of our joke of a military. The argument was that we were not living up to our end of the bargain. |

Same folks who think their homeland should have heavy nuclear weapons or be able to exert their military influence on all their neighbours. |

All we are missing some mines in the Arctic and anyone comes into Canadian water... bye bye boat.
Plus but in Surface to Air missiles. Anytime Russia feels like coming into Canada again (unannounced)... bye bye birdie. |

people who live in glass houses...
USSR was far more destructive than any other political entity on the planet save perhaps for the Nazis. And present day Russia is regrouping to start again where Gorby left off. |

WTF? US of A was the only ONE country in the whole world to use nuclear weapons. They didn't gain much from it too, WW2 was almost over anyway, they just wanted to test it on actual people, I guess, I don't see any other reason.
And I'm not even counting countless other wars they or their proxies started in 20th century.
Evil empire just got replaced with axis of evil, nothing else has changed.
Face the facts, dude :)
If they are such peace loving nation, why their military spending 10 times more than next country on the list?
And while military budget is rising, meanwhile they can't even afford their own space ship, have to go and ask "Evil Empire" to give them lift.
What a joke. |

America, land of peace? Forget about it.
The United States is just the 85th most peaceful nation on earth, according to the fourth annual Global Peace Index (GPI), a statistical ranking based on a spectrum of 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators — from political stability and military expenditures to gun sales, violent crime and "respect for human rights."
The 85th position does not even rank the U.S. in the upper half in the 149-nation list, which was released Tuesday.
But some of the countries ranked ahead of the U.S. may raise a few eyebrows: China, Cuba, Libya, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Chile and the United Arab Emirates are among them, based on their relative peacefulness within their own borders and with neighbors. At its most basic, the GPI simply defines peace as "an absence of violence."
The top 10?
For the second year in a row, New Zealand is in first place, followed by Iceland, Japan, Austria, Norway, Ireland, Denmark, Luxembourg, Finland and Sweden.
The bottom 10 countries are North Korea, Congo, Chad, Georgia, Russia, Israel, Pakistan, Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia and, in very last place, Iraq.
Among our Western allies, Canada is ranked 14th; Germany, 16th; Spain, 25th; the United Kingdom, 31st; France, 32nd; and Italy in the 40th spot. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news...bal-index-says/
But trolls don't care about facts. |

you really think thats why they dropped the bomb?
Revisionism is scary!!
The japanese were ready to fight to the finish. Hell they even had suicide bombers. The kamikaze that would sacrifice themselves without question based on the emperors orders. In fact, the US didnt even want to join the war and didnt do so until 1941 when the japanese dragged them into it.
THE US USED TO BE CRITISIZED BY THE WORLD FOR NOT ENTERING CONFLICTS ON BEHALF OF THE ALLIES!!!
It was the same for WW1
It is well noted that the US actually saved 100s of thousands of lives by using the H bomb (as horrible as it was) due to the japanese willing to fight until there was literally nothing left. |
