When Digweed is on, there is no one in the world that can bring it to his level.. hard and dark..

John Digweed's set tonight was definitely the best I heard all weekend. Didn't know he could bring it that hard & dark but damn I was completely blown away.

Going to keep this short and sweet.. I decided to go on the Sunday with my wife just to check things out and to be able to say just once that we went to Electric Zoo, but never again! That is simply the worst venue ever.. I can barely breath today even after flushing my sinuses with saline.. We couldn't believe we spent $100+ per ticket to go there.

The best decision we made was to leave early (~8:15).. I regret missing Digweed because he was the only DJ I really wanted to see, but there is no way we could hold out any longer, and I've seen him dozens of times over the years so it was okay to miss him.. Above & Beyond were really good, but very predictable.. the tail end of Moby was good as well, but then there was a big gap in time where I didn't care to see anyone that was playing and had to hold out for Victor at 8pm.. for what we saw of Victor, he was really bringing it hard, but the crowd obviously sucked.. full of JP all-stars left and right, so we decided to leave because we couldn't hold out any longer..

Overall I give it a 2/10 and will never return unless the venue changed and they did a better job to re-order the dj's... I still don't understand why Digweed and Armin would play in parallel!?

A lot of the people were really messy yesterday as well.. people need to slow down a bit when they go to these big events.

This is a pretty crappy review thread, we should start a new one, too much complaining there wasn't enough tarnce at the event. If you ask me, I was at Sunday school pretty much the whole time and it was epic.

I'm not taking a piss, but seriously - how do you tell one "ksssssssshhhhhhh whoop whoop click tock ding boom boom boob boom boom tsss boom tsss click tock kkkshhhhh" from another? It seemed like every on was playing same repetitive . I could make better "music" whacking my dick on a bucket of KFC...

Sorry, I didn't drop 20 pills, so I found that monotony skull-numbing. Glad you had a great time, though.

Neither did I, don't be so quick to assume cos you sound like a prick. Don't take your frustration out on me cos you have bad taste in music.

It's a legitimate complaint though. Made completely dogged it this time around when it came to booking trance acts. They took the most conservative names available (ex. ATB, Cosmic Gate, etc.) and then turned around and booked every Tom, Dick, and Harry techno DJ they could find. It doesn't make sense.

"bad" taste = 100% subjective

Your opinion on what is good and his opinion differs. There's no sense arguing about it.

No, it is not a legitimate complaint in a review thread. Everyone knew exactly who was spinning this weekend. Did someone say 200 trance DJ's were going to magically show up unexpectedly and spin for an epic 40 hours personally for each trancehead? No.

We all knew what acts were going to show up. We've known for months. So if you come to the show, spend a crapload of money, and then complain that they didn't have the DJ's you wanted...well, maybe you should pay attention to the billboards and actually READ it before buying tickets next time.

The tickets arent magic, just because you rub it three times, click your heels and twirl, doesn't mean Tiesto will sprout from the ground and start spinning.

Here's my review

1:45PM Got in to Randalls Island and went straight into Hilltop Arena for Cosmic Gate. It was first time seeing them and I enjoyed their set. I did miss Armin's Not Giving Up On Love remix but they played the usual recent Cosmic Gate releases. But many did say they always plays the same so they might be right

3:00PM Saw first half an hour of Avicii's set. I was there for a short wile at the TA meetup and did like what I hear.

3:30PM Went to Sunday School Grove to see Buttrich/Tanzmann/Squillace. I had a pretty good time but did go back to Avicii's set soon after and check about A&B

4:30PM Back to Hilltop Arena to see Above&Beyond. I wasn't too thrilled with their set and never got into it to be honest.

6:30-11PM It was all about the Sunday School Grove for me. Marco Carola was sick, Victor Calderone was sicker, and John Digweed was the sickest. What can I say, those were some of the best sets I heard the entire weekend. The highlight of the night has to be John Digweed's set. It was my first time seeing him and I didn't know quite know what to expect. He does play a huge variety of styles and I was actually quite discussing this with few TAs. He started out really dark and hard and ended it really great. I did skip Armin this time around and I honestly don't regret that decision.

PROs: More people, more drink/food choices, better sound setup
CONs: I didn't like that Sunday School Grove was the smallest tent setup and it was QUITE dusty there. I don't even smoke and I'm still coughing non stop.

In the end, I went to Electric Zoo to see variety of music and try to see DJs that I haven't seen before. I saw everyone that I wanted to see and quite got my moneys worth. I see a good amount of people complaining about not having trance acts and they are probably right. It was also a smart move by Made to put most of the trance acts in earlier of the day because they had a quite a crowd other tents didn't have at that time. There were only about 7 trance DJ's at the entire event and that is pretty disappointing for the most. And most of them played very predicatable sets so I can't say trance was the best I heard this year at EZOO.

THIS is what prevented me from roaming around to different tents and hearing the dj's I like. Instead, I spent the day in the HORRIBLE main stage. The music was god-awful! Only did it so I can BREATHE! 1 hour in the tent for A&B and I was coughing and blowing black boogies all night long.

The main stage needs a revamp.

Glitch Mob killed it! Holy crap these 3 white boys are awesome and LIVE. They def win for most unique artist and great live set award. One of my fav live acts from all the ones that I have ever seen. All 3 of them on the drum machines was wicked! The PA system or w/e it's called was facing out to the crowd and the loops were pressed so the entire crowd could see. Amazing tunes. Amazing samples of old rap songs. SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!!! These guys make such awesome beats!

p.s. ONE is the crappiest song ever. Heard it 3x day 2 and luckily I left early to miss armin's encore of it as well.
