But beyond that. Why is it illegal to continue to posses it? |
Because either you're going to go vigilante and do something you're not supposed to, or you're going to become the intended target audience thus inciting more similar acts (that is, the production of CP).
I'm going to bed, Nou, I hope I answered all you wanted to know. |

That made no sense... Vigilante? Attack the person who made it?
Become a child molester? Because I saw that image of that south Vietnamese officer shooting an North Vietnamese spy in the head, I am going to go shooting people in the head?
Thats why information should be illegal, because it (possibly) incites people to do things?
Then the wikileaks documents that expose spys should be illegal because it might incite someone to kill them right? |

god damn it nou!!! THE LEAKS AREN'T ILLEGAL!
the way they were obtained is! he's now in jail...
wiki-leaks releasing them is not illegal
(refer to my post about the NYT's vs USA)
child porn is ILLEGAL...all around the world
posting child porn on the internet is considered distributing thus enabling cp to exist...an illegal act
plain and simple.. |

BUT WHY!? THAT IS WHAT I AM ASKING!
If the government says its illegal then posting these documents would be wrong too then?
Come on, use your head here... |

Which is something you should do.

Which is some-- wait, what?!
What are you even on about? Why the hell are you going to keep CP in your computer if you're not going to either use it to study it (and then do whatever it is you want to do for the improvement of mankind, like going after the criminal or something twisted like that) or fap away to it?
And is there an "industry" of south Vietnamese officers shooting an North Vietnamese spies for the entertainment of others?!

What? No!

Huh?! Child Pornography is sold/distributed/given away by child pornographers who child pornographise as many pornographed children as possible for the sheer pronographisation of it!
You're comparing two different situations that have nothing in common whatsoever! Have you ever heard of a Vietnamese spy-shooting industry that sells images/videos of spies being shot for its entertainment value? No, so the analogy doesn't work. |

So masturbating to it should be illegal? Why? Because it is morally wrong? Because you feel it is morally wrong? What if I feel it is morally wrong to expose information that would put my country at risk?
Is it a majority opinion? Has an opinion been taken for the release of these documents?

The main argument against child pornography is that it incites people to commit acts against children.
Should simulated rape porn be illegal because it might incite people to commit real rape? The two are indistinguishable, real rape, and fake rape, so there isn't really an argument to be made about one being fake and the other real either.
If incitement is not a motivating factor to keep it illegal than what is? Inciting people in a lot of things is illegal, incitement to commit violence is illegal in most of the world. Wouldn't these documents release maybe incite people to commit violence against people in some cases? |

Nou, you can't be reading AND asking these questions at the same time. The impression I have is that you're trying to pick every proposition you see and jump to the questions despite of all the explanations I wrote to back up my words. You're apparently just skimming over and hoping for the best.
If you're trying to pull a Socrates, you're doing it wrong. And I'm going to bed. For Christ's sake read what I wrote and do not ask me anything until you've tried to understand what everyone is telling you. |

All I really want to know is where is the boundary on what information should be free and what information should be controlled.
Child Pornography has never been proven to increase or decrease the occurrence of child molestation, child rape, or other forms of child abuse. The argument is that it MIGHT so thats why it should be illegal.
The argument that its a commercial exploitation is wrong as well, because most distribution is no longer paid for (in fact the major pay for institutions have been honey pot operations), so the commercial aspect that people purchasing child porn creates a market for it is just false, because there is no market for it.
So it comes down to the moral and sociological aspects of it really.
It is wrong to molest children. On the other hand, depictions of it... ??? What is the crime? Where is the crime? Because it might cause something? You can argue that so many things might cause something that its insanity.
So either you agree that all information should be free, or you tell me where the lines are drawn and for what reasons. |
