lol no. never. :stongue:
What qualifies something as an "edm capital" isn't just how much money you can spend on old has been DJs. It's how much the city contributes to dance music, how thriving it's local and underground scenes are, and how innovative it can be in terms of the music. Vegas has none of that. |

I don't think people discredit it. Just even with all the EDM stuff going on in Vegas, it gets little attention as an EDM city. It has to fight through what everyone already sees Vegas as in their minds.
And Vegas does not have any known form of a real local scene. For example, you don't really see people from Vegas here on TA, do you? I sure don't. But plenty of people in Cali go to Vegas for events. It's not Ibiza. It needs a local scene to flourish as a true EDM destination. |

Well I guess maybe its not the EDM capital, but I mean with so much talent there it should be something lol
And a few people that post here live there, just aren't regular posters.
What city is? Or is it a 3 way tie with SF/LA/NYC??
Edit: I should have titled it Party capital of America so everyone can agree... |

It probably is just a matter of image, history, and numbers.
The gambling, shows, and other entertainment in Vegas overshadow the EDM scene there.
LA/SB has held massive EDM events for over a decade. Can you imagine 50-100k people showing up to Vegas for an EDM event a couple times a year?
LA still wins the western half of the US in my mind. I have never experienced the EDM scene of Miami or NY yet, so I can't make a judgment about the east coast. |

It's hard to say, but EDM seems to be popular with everyone in LA. In most cities when a car with a sound system drives by you hear rap blasting from it. I've noticed in LA, it's usually EDM blasting from the cars. That says something. |

| The only people calling it Ibiza are the people who have invested their time and money in the city (and the ones who just parrot what they say). Liiiiiiiiiike Oakenfold? Of course he's going to say it's like Ibiza. , I hope Vegas isn't like Ibiza... It's just a fake ass party city where people try so hard to impress one another (the majority, not all, I understand). |
