My heart belongs in Cali, I'll probably be back in a year or two. :p

Up until a year or two ago. The default genre in most clubs in LA was (and still is in many places) hip hop. So dunno about LA.

I've noticed people in SF, NYC and Miami are more house music/EDM orientated as a default genre at a nightclub.

I will wait and see. I'm a big believer in medium-sized scenes but it'll take a lot to put Vegas from not even really on the map to the best

If I can convert one person every day from listening to that crap they call hip hop, the rest is right around the corner.

I look at what we have done in this town over the last 7 years with EDM and the way it is going, we are headed in the right direction.

For cheesy music yes Las Vegas is the current EDM capital of America. You cannot go anywhere and hear dance music without vocals on top of it. I love Las Vegas and lived there for a bit before EDM moved to the casinos and I now live in LA.

Los Angeles eats Vegas alive in terms of culture and quality dance music events! Where are the raves in Vegas? EDM is not just in some commercial nightclub. Vegas has residencies and headliners but the amount of quality has gone down in terms of musical selection. Electro and dutch house dominate along with top 40 remixes. That is not quality EDM, that is mainstream EDM which fits Vegas just fine but, it should not be a representation of America's EDM scene as it's entirely too commercial.

Quality over quantity. Vegas need an off the strip venue like ICE to pull the true EDM kids away from the strip. What happens is people that dont listen to EDM get into these clubs, don't dance so the DJ is forced to play music that they know (top 40) in order to dance. If you don't conform you flop as a DJ out there in any venue in any casino.

I think one of the great things about the LA EDM scene is how there really isn't a dress code and everyone is pretty casual. It's that "come as you are" vibe that make EDM clubbing feel different (besides the great music) than your usual dress code/bottle service/long line that doesn't seem to move/etc. types of clubs.

I have not been to Vegas to check out EDM DJ's so are the clubs as causal as LA for EDM nights or are they more like the non-EDM clubs in LA?

People would probably disagree with me on this but I feel like the presence of raves actually takes away from the popularity of EDM. The reason is that a lot of people who come to raves could give less of a regarding who's playing. How many of you guys have been at an event in LA with a DJ you really like only to have some rolling high school kid ask you who is up there?

I think Vegas might take over LA eventually because of legitimacy. They have the money for the big names, and as far as supporting acts etc. that all just comes naturally. Believe me that there are plenty of EDM DJs who are watching Vegas very carefully.

Vegas has a lot of commercial stuff but as it builds legitimacy the underground and other scenes will form on their own. For now it's pressing on, and I am extremely impressed with Marquee's line-up for January.

I agree, EDM clubs should not be the type where you have to overdress, unless your a girl. although a blazer and some Nikes does not look bad either...best of both worlds. of course security that is trying to get laid and douchers, yikes. yeah dude, we know you spend 10 hrs a day at the gym and i can give a rats ass. :P

A trip to the Palms Place and evening at Moon with a dj you love is hard to beat, IMO

Vegas has the best clubs in the US in my opinion.

Culture wise LA has it. But that also is because of the massive and diverse population. Accepts all forms of EDM.

SF gets great bookings but no turnout and clubs need some work.

Miami is really all House at this point and clubs need work.

Denver with Beatport is overhyped. Really really overhyped. Same tactic they use as artists use to get high votes in djmag.

Havent been to the new one in NY that just opened. Been to many states and many venues, but cant find something that beats Vegas. Not talking attitude, attire, etc. Just in terms of venues. Hard not to have a good time in them no matter what surrounds it.
