Thank you for your diminished appraisal of my people's reasoning and comprehension skills. May I conduct my consensus now?
It's not about the US, but most of the entire world. I'm just being realistic, not condescending.
The consensus is so flawed I don't see why you would even bother. It will probably just misinform you more than you already are.
But yes, go ahead.

Overall, I would say that it had a negative effect on me. It deprived me of the opportunity to make loads of cash again by betting against the U.S. economy.

Nope, not at all.
Fun fact: The government spending loads of money during a crisis to stimulate the economy has never worked. Ever. Anywhere.

PKC was quicker, but the funny thing is that he just mindlessly repeats what he read in his history book and posted a diagram that has no relevance whatsoever to the effectiveness of debt-financed economy stimuli. And you, despite mostly being a troll, hit the nail on the head: the war is what revived the US economy.

No, I'm pretty sure it hasn't done jack for me. The unemployment rate actually rose a few percent in my area since the stimulus. Still wondering where all these new jobs are? Do you know? I think I see them being outsourced to China...
Yes, but you don't have the ability to look at how the country and the economy would be doing if the stimulus hadn't happened. Things could be A LOT worse. People are complaining about all the good things that haven't happened since the stimulus, but there is no way to tell all of the bad things it prevented. There really is no way to tell how effective it was, other than by running scenarios on computers or by going into a parallel universe where the stimulus did not happen. The CBO did run some and they determined that the stimulus ended up being much more beneficial than not having one would have been.
A consensus is just an appeal to popularity and really won't tell you anything about the effectiveness of the stimulus or lack thereof.

I got my internship thanks to ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act). After that, i was hired full time because i did a good job during my internship. So i guess that was good. A girl who works with me also went full time after her internship.

haha... I feel I've been vindicated. All we have now is more debt, worsening inflation, and less employment. We've been hovering between 9.5 and 10% unemployment since being "stimulated", and if you count those who've been out of work so long they no longer receive unemployment benefits (thus no longer being counted in the Bureau of Labor Statistics data), we are at 19% unemployment. We were sold a lie sandwich saying we MUST borrow/spend $1 trillion to keep the unemployment rate below 8%. 48 our of 50 states have had unemployment rise, including a whopping 100 metropolitan areas.
Why does Obama think it was a success? Because to him it is- there are more people dependent on government now than ever before, and he represents the party of government handouts. Keep 'em on the dole long enough, and they'll keep voting for the politicians who won't "take away our benefits!"
