| Any reviews of the sound system? Was it crystal clear, did you ears hurt like hell ( used to be the case @ circus before ) was the base great? How does it compare to stereo's epic sound system...? |

| without comparing id say the new system is much bassier and cleaner than the previous one. |

The sound is huge. HUGE! I swear I could feel my hair move with every kick, and I was right in the middle of the dancefloor. They still need some adjustment in the mids, but wow, I'm impressed. No more hissing. YES.

I've only been to the opening night for an hour or two, I've yet to experience it with a full room but it's a MAJOR improvement. The bass really is a physical experience.
I'm not going to say one is better than the other, but at Stereo the sound is spacier because of the higher ceilings and Circus' sound is more in-your-face. Not a bad thing, they're both different and it's perfect that way. :D |

My god I would be happy doing this for a living; engineer + audiophile... I might actually be on track. Someone ask them if they need an intern. :toothless
I also suppose it's time to lose my circus virginity after all these years :wtf: |

I was there for Umek, and the bass is definitely intense. I'm not actually sure I've ever experienced low end like that.
At the beginning of the night I found the highs a little too sharp. I'm not sure if the system might have just been louder than I'd like it, or if I just needed to adjust, or what, but I found it a little unpleasant. That went away after 15 minutes or something.
I hadn't been out to any afterhours in a long time, so I can't compare it to either its old system, or Stereo, but I was impressed. |

The fact that the main room is rather small, and ceilings are low, serves that sound system very well. The sound experience is very immersive.
Instead of having that loud big room feeling with reverb, it's like being in a professional studio. The details are clear, and all around you.
And most of all, that bass punches you right in the chest. And that's the most enjoyable feeling.
Like I was saying to friends this week, instead of having to listen and make an intellectual effort to concentrate on the music like before, you are physically thrown into it. Meaning you can let go, relax, stop thinking, and enjoy the physical experience. = Less tiring for the brain.
I know that technicians were on spot all week-end, so they probably adjusted the low, mid and high ends with a full room by now. |

Can't wait for a black out night! and also CAN'T wait to hear diggers on that system as well. Both rooms have that sound system? ( may sound like a dumb question ) |

Went to Circus for my first time Friday. The sound in the playroom is AMAZING. Im having a hard time thinking of a club where I've heard a cleaner sound. My ears felt so happy.
We have a Funktion in Toronto and I wasnt impressed by it.
Sound in the other room was pretty bad though. |

That is a very good explanation and is the ultimate goal and the primary driving principal at Funktion One. It is VERY nice to see that it is seen as such and I must complement you on your post.
PS adjustments were made on the full room this week end. Mainly on the balance in the mid high driver gain (250hz-5.99kHz) since the new driver which was reflecting in the empty room falcifyint RTA readings etc. This type of system is like a formula 1 race car, no matter how good it is, some fine tuning is always good to acheive perfection given that each room (race track) reacts differently to it... |
