Went to Circus for my first time Friday. The sound in the playroom is AMAZING. Im having a hard time thinking of a club where I've heard a cleaner sound. My ears felt so happy.
We have a Funktion in Toronto and I wasnt impressed by it.
Sound in the other room was pretty bad though.
There's 2 in Toronto that I know about (was another one in the entertainment district but it got shut down). Wrongbar has one but it's a smaller venue and the soundsystem I don't think was configured to blast you by any means so it fails on volume. Second one is at Maison Mercer and it's a beast, so much potential, but something there is totally throwing it off cause every time I've been sound was average at best. Shame to see the system in there going to waste but that whole club has issues anyways...
Sounds like Circus' has already beat both of those systems' performance, can't wait to check it out.

The fact that the main room is rather small, and ceilings are low, serves that sound system very well. The sound experience is very immersive.
Instead of having that loud big room feeling with reverb, it's like being in a professional studio. The details are clear, and all around you.
And most of all, that bass punches you right in the chest. And that's the most enjoyable feeling.
Like I was saying to friends this week, instead of having to listen and make an intellectual effort to concentrate on the music like before, you are physically thrown into it. Meaning you can let go, relax, stop thinking, and enjoy the physical experience. = Less tiring for the brain.
I know that technicians were on spot all week-end, so they probably adjusted the low, mid and high ends with a full room by now.
That's actually a great way to put it!

Didn't know about wrongbar. I was at Maison Mercer for Sneaks Bday and was so disappointed.
Circus definitely has it done right. I cant wait to return again.

by the way monitor (erik el + bruno brown) played probably one of the techiest sets i've heard in a long time... i straight up felt like i was in europe listening to papa sven... what a treat!

Not surprised one bit! Erik El, who is the driving force behind the Monitor sound, played the set of his life at New Love NYE 2011. Staight up micro tribal tech, fresh stuff, international set quality. If Victor Calderone had played that night, Erik would have kicked his ass….that’s how good his set was. No joke.

seriously... world class music... totally agree with you... give some headliners a run for their money...
