Like, listen to progressions, the drops, how everything (Wait for it)....

Comes Together!!

And yea, it is the SCENE that makes it more amazing. People were there for the music. The music was the drug (for some). And you didn't wait for your favourite song, They were all your favourite.

Same thing happened with Cars. It used to be about the "Sleeper" that you could race at night, take to the track, and drive to work.

Now you have "show cars"...

97-2002 was the best music imo, but early / mid 90's had the best vibe.

Any other early 90's ravers here? '93 for me :)

anyone who didn't listen to trance before 2005 could never possibly appreciate the music produced before then, simply because they didn't live through it.

I would somewhat agree with Takayuki here in terms of the message he tried to convey, even though i see ur point too. my 2 cents: yes you can appreciate the same music years later but you cant appreciate it in the same CONTEXT as back in the day (and context is paramount). The time is different, your human experiences are different, society is different, etc etc. just so many variables are different that you can not replicate the same experience that occurred in the past. In fact even the people that experienced the original context will not be able to experience the same thing in the same way with time.

Really if anybody is having trouble finding lost Techno music, di.fm is all you need. Also ishkurs? directory is great to MAP OUT the Evolution of Electronica. Seriosly though, the truest form of Trance is GOA PSY, Progressive is where its at but you need builds to keep me interested, and great Trance uses Harder Sounds mixed with Light stuff to truly Create and Experience. OH OH And Panning LEFT and RIGHT Actually TUNES YOUR BRAIN IN SYNC, but that would be a whole nother thread. PS: EVERYONE GO CHECK DJ YAHEL!! and

and... this site really needs a designated troll thread!!!

And I'm afraid that no amount of catching up will get you there...

With the exception of a few posts that actually gave some good historical insight, this thread is pure off topic trash and bitching.

Every genre of EDM has it's peak and there's little argument that trance is way past that peak already (which still doesn't mean you have to bash new stuff or can't enjoy it for what it is). For the people who are new to the scene you'll probly be doing the same to newcomers in 10 years "oh electro's peak was 2008-2012 blah blah". Who cares it's a fact that music quality goes up and down. Just find what you like, enjoy it, and who cares what other peeps are into or think. At the end of the day there's no reason that someone else's opinion should detract from your enjoyment of what you listen to.

Yah I wasn't around pre 2000 but I can imagine what it was like...

Im just glad i was there for the peak...

I don't think it ended in '01 though...

Early '03 is when it started to go downhill fast but Mark started playing the harder techno an house which he mixed into the trance. We had a seriously good year of that...

And then came the electro and the magic fell off a cliff...

This ain't even Trance, but this is the Kind of Stuff Tehcno now evolved from, and the last remnants of what the 90's represented for EDM.

And To all who weren't there from 2003 or Previous, YEA, Context makes a HUGE difference, your ears have been spoiled in a sense, and what was out then, will never sound the same to you, and the experience can never be replicated.

And that is the essence of Trance, the FEELING, the XPERIENCE!!

Dude you sound like those hippies that talk about how great their era was over and over and over. You've already stated your point 10 times and now it's just pure trolling. Get over it, you're 41 and you probly don't like the latest music cause your old ass hearing can't decipher it.
