Why don't more venues/DJ's hold "classics" nights?

Since mostly everyone here prefers the pre-2000 stuff over modern day cracker trance, why not? There has to be an audience.
If Tiesto booked a tour and said he was only to play "classic" trance, would it not draw or something? |

Why can't DJ's just play a mix of old and new? I don't care if a track is one month old or 15 years old, as long as it is good trance. I saw Armin last week and I am sure he could have played some awesome classics, but no, half of the tracks he dropped were cheesy, vocal, ty Armada tracks, I am sure Armada and promoters tell him what to play. |

I never understood that myself. It seems to me, that in the Trance scene a track which is older than 3 months, is considered outdated. But let me quote a saying:

There's hardly a DJ who's not a "Fashionist"! :tongue2 |

DJs are not interested in playing obscure, interesting or creative music.
They're only there to play their own tracks and remixes, their friends' tracks and remixes, and stuff released on their record label.
They are not DJs. They are music promo whores.
As a club/music consumer, your responsibility should be to stop paying attention to these turds, and go to where the music is best and the spamming is at a minimum. |

i agree with this, especially for the top dj's...when they come to town it's just a predictable producer's set nothing crazy
as for tiesto doing a classics set wow that would be something crazy ha ha
i mean classics parties are good BUT not every so often maybe once or twice a year...dj's should concintrate on playing new music, not always lookin to the past |

| I think Ishkur is right on the money. It seems the DJ, especially Trance DJs, have become nothing more then promo whores for their label. Its no longer about taking the partier on a trip through the night but about trying to throw in as many bombs and label owned tracks in one night as possible. DJs have lost their creativity now and if a track isn't on the pre-arranged track list for the tour then it doesn't get played. |

You can't move for old skool/classic nights here. Pretty sure there are two or three promoters in my city who only put on retro nights. I mean, this is what my weekend currently looks like:

Danny Tenaglia would disagree with this comment....
He is one of very very few DJs who can work in a track that is 20 years old and make it sound brand new...
The same can be said bout Sander K, pre 2006 Sander K that is |

Didn't you just say in your other thread that you went to Armin's concert and that "this music touches my soul, and I can't have enough." That doesn't sound like something someone who didn't enjoy half the show would've said. Make up your mind. |
