Great news indeed! What kinda tracks was he playing out of curiosity? The typical Villalobos sound circa 2004-2007?

For a while I was going to downsview regularly for roller derby bouts at the hangar - there are so many interesting looking party spaces out there!

From my review on MTLTA:

I was amazed with Ricardo last night.

The first 45 minutes of his set were absolutely incredible. After that, he did have some lulls, but he played everything I was expecting him to play and more. Segments of crazy percussion, really weird minimal segments, funky segments, a little bit of house.. There were about 4 or 5 moments in his set where he would have these craaaaazy builds and drops and had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hands.

Yes, as I said before, he did drone on at times, but that is the way Ricardo plays.

That is the best set I've ever heard him play.

Looking forward to round 2 with Victor tonight!

Can't wait to get my rave on.

Bought the deepest V-neck ever, I'm going out dressed up as Sean Miller.

My favorite Toronto discovery of my 8 years of living there were those jams...the after parties were hilarious too. I even have my own skates!

despite not wearing any costume, I had a girl come up to me and very seriously ask me if I was "supposed to be" Calvin Harris.

Carnival did a great job setting up a warehouse event. Some people weren't overly impressed with the sound system, but you can't expect the acoustics to be crisp in a massive studio. They could have used a bit more high to mids in the stacks, but not complaining.

Villalobos played pretty good. Luciano was kinda a miss, maybe he was a little rocked... not sure.

Can anyone tell me who was playing before Villalobos and Luciano? He was playing some slow boring techno for a 12 to 2 am slot.

Over all not a bad night. Looking forward to another ravey night in my near future.

weird..i found the exact opposite. luciano was playing some serious tunes, ricardo was generally just dancing around with his hands in the air, trainwrecking ad nauseum
