Don't get involved with the current market players... it's only more headaches for you. Do it alone, do it like you think is best, you fail, at least you tried and you can't blame anyone else... no one will blame you for not trying!
You succeed, no one will steal that from you and you'll have something of your own to carry year in year out.
Trust me, all these event "production" houses in town are complete clusters of organizations bound to fail and perish.
(I exclude BBCM from that last statement because I have no extensive experiences with them)
this is sort of what Marcus was speculating earlier and what Stereohead was saying in another thread recently.
Too many idiots/people to deal with, otherwise Montreal should have had taken advantage of that Labour Day weekend window (to use such an example) to have a big festival that NYC is having now. Maybe not on the same scale as NYC's EZ but now we have nothing but club nights and daytime events during that weekend. EZ is fairly new.. Montreal had several years to have a decent massive/festival that weekend, even with LOL a day or two before it.
I'm not complaining too much, however.. look where I live :p

It's sort of odd how that Labour day weekend rave slowly diminished year by year. By the time it was Axwell+Chuckie @ Terrasse Bonsecour it was really on the way out... like Spin says now we're destined to have club hours partys with Piknic/Beach Club doing their own thang.
To me it still looks like an extremely profitable window. Everyone wants to party since they have the monday off + students start school on Tuesday it just makes sense to throw a big party. I remember they used to piggyback off the LOL bookings and we'd get some pretty sick DJs.
Tell me something Louis: you know the Quai in the Old Port where Igloofest is? I keep telling my friends how ing epic a summer party would be at that venue. Going from like 6-3am (or wtv time is permitted to close at) with house heads + techno heads (no trance please). I know Piknic manages a lot of stuff at that area so maybe a joint Piknic + Citizen event?

yeah, you're right, Labour Day wknd is still an opportunity, as long as the focus is more locally, as that EZ is pretty big now. I cringe at anything outdoors that time of year though.. Aug and Sept tend to be very unpredictable for weather. EZ was lucky it missed the monsoon on the Sunday

I know, I know. When it come to any kind of big production they pull it off best. Just seeing how smooth something as massive as the U2 shows went speaks tons to their experience. If a pipe dream of a 50k party were to happen in this city...they would be the ones IMO.

line up looks incredible, but is it realistic?
and a big x2 for a day/night time event at quai jacques cartier. 2 stages, or main stage and tent.. noon to midnight.

Spin Laden
three of the worst dj sets I've ever experienced are in that hipster stage, and I've eaten a lot of cheese in the past year or two. Just add MSTRKRFT for some Canadian content :p
