What do you think of a lineup like this ? (pg. 2)

Some of the big main stream festivals lost money this summer with acts that appeal to a much broader audience Louis.

Good luck with this though , if you prove me wrong and pull it off I would be very happy for you. Don't start a thread asking a thread about what people think if you don't want to hear opinions man, none of what I said was malicious.

Like I said, do it then and I'll eat my crow happily if I'm wrong.

I think if anybody is to be behind this is Louis, considering all the work he did for circus(really crazy techno and trance bookings) I am hoping you succeed.

Meh. Even for a fictional line up it is incredibly boring.

GUYS ARE YOU SERIOUS?

HOW CAN YOU CALL A LINEUP LIKE THAT BORING???

lol... you guys never cease to amaze me

I agree that the only way you could ever pull this off would be to work with Evenko, Playground, Piknic, BBCM... maybe modify this a bit for the individual rooms ie:

evenko room:

SHM
Tiesto
Deadmau5

Piknic:

Richie Hawtin
Marco Carolo
Ricardo
etc

BBCM:

D-Formation
Vibe
John Digweed
Sasha

This could work very well somewhere at Palais de Congres with the different sized rooms.

I like that you're thinking big MBF. Two words: Pasquale Rotella ;)

Obivously this is fictionnal, you have to read between the lines and understand where I'm going

1) Montreal is ready for a very big event
2) EDM is at a level where it is time to make a move like this

Jay my problem with your comments is that you ALWAYS make jokes before trying to actually discuss properly ... and on top of it, you always sound like you've been there and produced an event yourself before

The goal of this thread was to read comments like Martin's

I respect a lot his opinion and the fact that he's straight forward when he ays it's not his cup of tea

On the other hand, I think the 514 days are over and the new generation is looking for something different

The best way to describe it is that a few years back, you had tapes and now cds and itunes

You had to listen to the whole tape to find the songs you enjoyed ... Now you skip to the next one and keep what you prefer and make your own playlists

The showcase format worked really well at Black & Blue. Pretty much everyone I spoke to loved it

Might not be the best for techier stuff I agree, but finishing a night with Laurent Garnier dropping classics would be dope IMO

I prefer keeping long sets for venues that you're used to party at. Where you control more your environment and there's less people

Interesting comments so far, keep em coming

Let's leave the trolls at home please

the reason it is boring is because as Martin said...too many cooks spoil the broth.

festival sets are about guys dropping their hits and leaving. no cohesive party.

When Playground do Bal En Blanc, they use the maximum space available for a party

That's why Olympic Stadium is more suitable

If you put the artists in the right order, it can make sense

The trance room at Black & Blue proved it

Artists are professionnal enough and intelligent to understand who's playing before and after them to let the party roll and progress properly

i guess thats why you didn't include ATB or PvD
Zyklon_Jay
Louis, where was the trolling? that is a cop out.

I don't doubt that Montreal is ready for a big event, but that is just too big. In Europe yes, here no.

I haven't produced my own events, but have worked for many of the big concerts and festivals. I've seen events marketed really well that ended up only doing 1200 walk up sales. there is also no venue that can accommodate 50k people. park Jean drapeau can only hold approx 38k with the oshega configuration for instance.

the cheese remark wasn't a troll because the acts tend to be cheesy:p
