so who would you book then? I'm curious :)
And you guys gotta put Paris Hilton before Creator.. makes more sense (plus Martin can stare at her boobs) |
Pauly D may be a better choice.. I'm sure Creator can find intro material that meshes well with Beat Dat Beat |

Yeah, outdoor is a risk as he stated, early Sept would clash with EZ and LOL, late June is too close to US Independence wknd so maybe early June or May long wknd.
|
late may during memorial day weekend is demf so that would clash
early july is also canada day weekend as well as the 4th of july for america
so june would be perfect imo, not too early in the ibiza/europe season and the weather is starting to warm up
just a suggestion, but yea i like how louis is asking for feedback from fans first
big props to you |

Oh yeah, MDW.. always the best time to avoid travelling to the US :p
Funny, we've had this thread idea on TA many times on here but having Louis and a few others post makes it far more insightful. If anything this exercise proves just how difficult it is to launch one of these things properly.
Still scratching my head over how BeB has dropped the ball with their festival that could have grown to be something not too far from the first idea posted at top of this thread. I give Black and Blue two more years and it will surpass BeB if they don't do something about that event. |

I love the idea
But I don't think that Showcase style events work for all kinds of music. While it may work very well for "main room and trance and maybe techno" I don't think house and tech-house would actually benefit from it. Those are two styles of music that lend themselves better to longer sets where Dj's have more time building up something rather than just throw an hour and a half of big tunes.
THAT BEING SAID
When is it happening that I ask for days off already ? |

| I think it's cheaper to book djs by the hour as well, that oould be the other reason that necessitates the showcase aspect. Maybe Louis can shed light on the financials too ;) |

But there's usually that big open space between house room and the back loges? |

Do not speak of the Black Lodge |

Interesting topic....
All i have to say is the last 'real' (even if you want to call it that) event was Cream '04....Sander K, Digweed, Deep Dish, Ferry, Etc
It had a little bit of everything, the Bell Center was completely FULL.
Louis, if you pull anything close to that off, kudos - ill buy my ticket off of you :p
just do your homework and research (which im sure you have/are). There must have been a reason why the last successful massive (on all fronts) was 8 years ago
Personally the idea is spot on, but i dont think you need ALL those names, but the mix of commerical/underground different stages etc is the right one. On the ohter hand, more names - more appeal...even tho i agree with Creator that 1.5 hr timeslots are dumb, but wtv sells ticks...and make sure the math adds up
Best of luck, hope you pull something amazing! |

| short time slots IMO are for when the DJ is a 1.5 hour flight away and the booking fees are lower, i.e. Europe. |
