passskal, as much as i (+ many others, clearly) dislike zeksg's attitude and comments from time to time...he really does have a point saying he'd rather stay home than go see recycled artists this nye.
i highly doubt he was referring to your nu love party when he mentioned recycled artists. although there are a few repeats at nu love, it remains the least commercial event that is not held in an official afterhours venue (i mean circus and stereo and red lite when i say afterhours venue). i was at your first nu love a few years ago, and had a decent time even tho it took me an hour to get out of that place because the staff couldn't find anyone's coats.
clearly, i think it was a referral to resolution and their line up thus far...because yes, it is insanely commercial, and yes, it will probably sell out...at close to 140$ per ticket...#wtf
i'd love to stay in mtl, and close to home for nye, but alas, there is not one single party being offered that i would pay what they are asking for. but that's just me. i have yet to see who stereo has booked but if it's not up to my nye standards then, i am getting the outta here for nye... |

There is a reason why we keep booking locals on NYE...we simply cannot compete with our Canadian dollar and expensive plane tickets/agent fee. Everything is 3 times more expensive on NYE: venue, security guards, DJs, VJs, lighting...
Personally, I prefer booking talented locals. Their sets are often better than internationals, especially when they are given the opportunity to headline. They know better than anyone what the MTL crowd digs in an after-hour/underground setting...gives pretty impressive and memorable sets to say the least.
Besides that, we try to offer a different overall experience worth while in a unique environment. Remember that spending NYE at a party is not just about the DJ.:)
If you want to check out our event I will be more than happy to give you the tour on Dec 31st so you can see for yourself. Passe nous voir! :) |

^ I agree with all of that, which is why I'm surprised to see D-Formation play NYE at Stereo (I had him pegged for NYD) instead of locals. For me NYE is just way overdone. You pay three times as much, wait three times as long in line, and have a third of the fun.
I'm not referring to Nu-Love, as I've never been. Just my impression of most night life on NYE. |

My guess is people don't want to be alone on NYE and feel better about spending it in a room packed with strangers.
Personally the best NYE experiences I've had were with 15-20 close friends doing our own thing. |

absolutely not. it is the same stuff over and over again...aka the same stuff ppl have been complaining about for the last 6 years. if there's something for everyone, why are there still complaints? and why still after 6 yrs?
anyways, for once, i definitely agree with misha...there is not one event being offered that i'd pay to go to.
now that i know who's booked at stereo, i'm out! i've seen dimas and c&c waaaaay too many times since i started going there.
the chalet awaits <3 i'm gonna organize a get-away and have maher headline. 10$ to get in :p |
