I just got back from Savannah GA and was listening to the Beat 94.1 radio station there, where it seemed that every "song" was absolutely ing terrible.

For example, this gem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPt-zRB5trc

Like seriously, what the is this , why is it being produced, and why do people listen to it? I'd love to know.

Because some people don't like music, they just like entertaining noising.
Looney4Clooney
some people really really like it tho. Like i've tried to understand.

The beats are always quantized hard.
The drums , well the actual sound , i mean how lazy can you get.
But the programming, i mean it just sounds so synthetic in a really bad way.
The trance synths from 1999. Again, not old enough to be classic. Laziness again.
And well the lyrics, ya not even gonna talk about that .

although for some reason , drop it like its hot is an ok track. I think the lack of super saw leads makes it less white and the drums are not awful like most other stuff. The chord bridge is really effective. But ya, I that is one genre i dontt think i could make a top 10 list.
MSZ
looney why are you so into electrohouse and brostep sounds?

Looney4Clooney
i'm not.

I like certain french groups. Dilemn which is like alot of french is just everything. I think nero's cover of the Jets, i mean props for even knowing the jets is a cool tune and the video is great.

And hate it as much as you want, both those genres have things that are cool and interesting. Wolfgang Gartner, and that phrasing of sound manipulation over 8 bars, that is new, I find that interesting. Skrillex, when he first came out, some of his sounds were pretty cool.

The problem with dubstep is that most artists kinda just stopped doing anything new. Basically every track is the same. But there are good tracks. And even tho it is a trend to hate it, to ignore something that is interesting is your loss.

I think you will find i dislike about 95% of EDM. But it isn't restricted to a genre. And as a composer, i keep up to date with everything. So yes, I listen to alot of everything. Alot of stuff i dont' really like. But i don't approach it that way. There is always something to learn. Unfortunately with most dubstep, it is what not to do.

Wolfgang Gartner is a great producer. I don't care what genre you call it
Dilemn has some really unique stuff that is way out lf left field.
I mean every genre has some good artists. Even hardstyle.Even progressive. That is what i find funny. You have this idea i listen to like dubstep all day. I don't. I listen to everything. Just because i don't mention it doesn't mean i don't like it.

put it this way, I can beat anyone anytime at name that tune. Every track i listen to, there is a foot note, a rating, i also have other imbeded meta tags say this one track is just awful but has a really cool sound. I label that.
MSZ
argh...

so what are you into right now? EDM speaking. can you give me like a few tracks you enjoy and would play as a dj?

i wont go into troll mode, im genuinely curious. i thought i had you figured for what i mentioned in the above post.

hey i like dubstep, but of the liquid variety. im not a fan of polished noise as much as atmosphere and music i think is executed well(in my mind ofcourse).
