Well at least i am brainwashed by myself and not by a bloody book. :p

Seriously though. I've seen him talk about his methods and they make a lot of sense to me. And if i ever find an incentive to quit and fail at doing it myself i'll be sure to give it a try. I just don't like doing it for the sake of it. I find it a bit scary really, to me it seems you could basically use the same method to stop falling in love. It may have it's ups and downs and in the end may be pointless and destructive. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the rush.

And i'm also not asking anyone to take me seriously, i just try to explain my thought processes so others might observe and learn something. Can't hurt can it?

Enough excuses for ya?

Lol oh come on. Anyway, I'm not knocking your insights - it's just that Mr. Carr does touch on exactly the things you guys have said. :p
Bierheld
That's exactly why i avoid him like the plague.

Lol that is so ing stupid. :stongue:

By the way, when did you see him talk, exactly? He died quite a few years ago. ;)

As an ex smoker you should understand.

He was in my television. The dead have a pesky habit of popping up in there.

I'll see if i can find the documentary, should be on the net somewhere.

Edit -

This (the doc):

And this (the actual clip):

haha, we aren't that different afterall, for me the cigarette acts in a similar way. Bored--> Cigarette. Doing smth annoying--> Cigarette.

But specially specially... waiting for a bus/underground for 20 minutes with just music or unhopefully without it is what drives me mad without a cigarette.

What the are you talking about? The truth is that an addiction to cigarettes is an addiction to nicotine. There is absolutely nothing enjoyable about it, and there never was. It tastes gross, it smells gross, and it makes you feel gross. It doesn't help you relax, and it doesn't cure boredom. Anything else you tell yourself about it is hogwash.

All I am as an ex smoker (aside from elated that I'm a non-smoker) is embarrassed and feeling stupid that I ever did it, and convinced myself to keep doing it, in the first place. I mean, when you really think about what it means to consciously make something part of your life that has great potential to make you sick and kill you, and then to become a slave to it - it's ing ridiculous. I also can't help but have it really hit home, as my uncle in law is dying of lung cancer...and I see the ill effects of smoking every day at work. I don't want to get ing COPD or heart disease. That is not pretty at the end stages, and it's a long, slow, torturous way to die.

We just got it, today, and it's actually not as bad as I thought it might be. Does anyone else smoke e-cigarettes?

Weren't these proven not to deliver much nicotine at all, if any?

Quite possibly. The lack of nicotine could explain the momentary loss of reason and temper as I hurled my keyboard into the desk upon reading your post.

One of my patients had an e cigarette (yes, he was allowed to "smoke" it in the room, because it's just water vapour), and he smoked the ing thing every 10-15 minutes, and then threw up after. Like yeah, the makes you feel great huh!

I've had a few nights where I smoked two or three cigarettes. Didn't get the appeal. Maybe you have to smoke for a couple weeks or something.

And you didn't know all that? Because i do. For me it's not about not acknowledging the facts or convincing myself of the opposite. It just means nothing to me, i'm addicted, i'm literally in love with a chemical. It's a bodily urge i need to satisfy. Hence the interest in E-cigs.

It's also human. I think you should be more comfortable with your own past, and who you are. No point in feeling ashamed of your own mistakes especially since you've learned from them and moved on.

Understandable. For a lot of people, including myself, it's indeed a show that's too far from our beds. Ignorance is in fact a large defining part of our nature. Which is why i can find peace with it i suppose.
