While it might be unfair to generalize a whole generation, it's a pretty accurate assessment for most individual cases.

Why?

Simply because, remember when we (those here for 5+ years) started getting into electronic music, it was far from cool. In fact, I got "teased", if you can call it that, by my frat boy, rock loving, room mates in college. Now they're the exact type that are so into 'raging'.

What was a passion for us has become a fad for an entire demographic. There are probably true fans hidden within that group, but tough break. It's easier to just reject the whole lot.

Exactly this. I remember being in hs and people making fun of me for listening to the electronic music.

And playing soccer! Haha. After a few years they all wanted to listen to electronic music and pretend they're ronaldinho

I've been to the Electric Warehouse before, many times, maybe like 15 times, til the wee hours of the morning, 7-8AM even. The cops outside have ALWAYS been there, and have always been friendly. If anything, they're there to protect the patrons outside in what's been a kind of dangerous neighborhood. To have been shut down means the promoters messed up, simple as that. There have been hardcore shows, hip hop shows, raves (INSANE and packed out raves) there without any issues whatsoever.

The door (not security, but cashiers) and the bars are promoter-run. Don't foot around the possibility that maybe our beloved underground promoters are also getting greedy along with the rest of the scene in New York. I also heard from people who paid more than $100-150 after 2-3AM.

There was this stigma of people labeling you automatically as a homo for liking "techno"
It seems that it has vanished over the last couple of years now that is socially accepted.

Dear friends,

Sorry it has taken us some time to write this message. We were finding out exactly what had happened during the Sasha event.

We had issues with the police department as they came numerous times during the night. Even after we had spoken to them and worked it out during the few times, they kept coming back. The final straw was when the music went back on and the fire alarm had gone off, and by then the Fire Marshals and the cops decided to shut us down.

We have done several events at this venue many times before without any problems and we apologize for how this ended. We really did all our best to keep it going, but this was beyond our control. If anyone knows who was charging over $50 from the entrance to the door, please let us know because we never set anything higher at the door. After this experience we have decided not to work with the venue for any future dates. We worked on this Sasha booking for over 6 months and it’s a real shame that he did not get to play his entire set. We are working on a make up date with Sasha for all the ticket holders, more info regarding it will be released to people who purchased tickets.

Thanks

Thanks BLK!

can see that, and it is a very valid point.

It all depends on one's experience, I never had it that way, didn't listen to this kind of music in hs --wasn't possible to do so at all.

What I listened to back then was often the kind of crap I've found unbearalbe for years now, and what I've been listening to is mostly stuff I didn't get at all back then.

Looking forward to the make-up, cheers all.
