It's really not that they are young, its the fact that they don't know how to control themselves (with alcohol and other things)

I really don't want to be in a party where there is going to be bunch of people going out for the first time and doing something dumb to ruin it for everyone. There are many parties for these type of people at big clubs like Pacha and some other places. Keep them there

It's funny how the theme of half the music played is about losing control.

If their goal is to do these parties for people that are all about the music, why they dont do it the MadNotMad (facebook screening and stuff) way? I dont know so that's why I ask.

Blkmarket does work with legal venues such as System and Highline Ballroom and their events have always gone without a hitch.

D36 was doomed from day 1 when they decided it was more important to recover their investment rather than build a reputation over time, which would have kept the place open for years to come. In the process they burned everyone they could (ie booking agencies, the reason why they couldn't get good talent to play there) and promoters, disagreeing with their artistic vision and making it difficult for them to execute it. Such a waste, but that's what happens when clueless ppl with too much money dabble into things they have no knowledge about.

The reason why event planners are now resorting to alternative spaces is because our scene does not have any places to accommodate us where we can do what we want to do comfortably and safely (AND respectfully, I can not stress this enough) and call home. Seriously, who wants to go someplace where you have to deal with door drama, comply to absurd minimum expense requirements in order to get in, abusive bouncers, etc? And on top of that, getting the party ended at 4 am? The ones who are doing what they do have my utmost respect for trying to keep the true scene alive. Sometimes it gets shut down and it's a great loss for the parts involved so instead of ripping them apart, show some support and they will do the right thing- like Blkmarket did with their very classy statement. And the ones that don't- like RPM and Pacha with the Eric Prydz @ Beekman fiasco- deserve our boycott. They just want our money and don't care about creating a memorable experience for their patrons and themselves because they're business people before music lovers. When the heart is in the right place, combined with experience, things will go well.

There's nothing like getting to chat with the event planners during the event and you see how they are in absolute awe just like their patrons. Like when Taimur kept saying "WOWWW" during Dettmann and Klock and then saying, "I'm going to Berlin now", or Fahad having the time of his life but at the same time running all over the place, or Memo's ear-to-ear smile the whole night at any given party even though he sometimes puts his mean face on to take care of business. Much love to Blkmarket, they truly are the Dream Team.

I do wish they would permanently close their mailing list like Minimoo did at one point though. I think Lounger suggested this sometime and I wholeheartedly agree with this.

Good guy blkmrket. Respect.
I hope Sasha takes his revenge and murder us all in the dancefloor. Can't wait.
@ chaska and xpander: well put, thanks.

They issued full refunds for the Beekman fiasco.

Not before jumping through many hoops. The door was run extremely poorly as well as purposely letting the place be over capacity. I also doubt they were unaware of previous problems Beekman has had. It was just poor planning and trying to maximise their profits by letting more kids through the door and charging at least double the cover.

I got my money back no problem, no hoops.

And you don't think that's what happened at Sasha? Those guys decided to keep serving drinks after 4, they decided to keep letting people in when the place was at capacity and they set the price at the door. Let's not make these guys out to be musical martyrs. They're businessmen too.

The bar is always the venue's call, plus I've heard some pretty scummy things about the venue. I am very aware of what Blkmarket does ;) some things ARE beyond their control, contrary to your belief.

Sorry that is completely false, the bar is not always the venue's call. You are not the only one who is aware of what people do ;)

Oy, chaska does not speak for blkmarket, no one here does. There are a few reasons events are TBA for many promoters, there are many parties and even legal venues that serve late, there are places with loud sound, venues beyond capacity, and sometimes your rsvp is not answered because you were scrubbed out of a list- to me this sounds like one helluva party but it is also something the police look for. The only thing I find annoying is that someone on ra had the nerve to ask for their money back when the event went until after four and there is a makeup date
kingchinc
make up date sounds great but not everyone spends every weekend in the city waiting around for a make up date, especially with ski season coming up, they should offer the option of a refund.
