And that was even a crappy trousy remix. That was early on so that means they didn't play trance at all the rest of the night.
Between them and W&W... it's amazing the influence Armin/Armada has over this new generation of dance music goer's... calling it all trance. *Sigh*

Even though he's not the same DJ he was years ago I decided to go, mostly because I haven't missed a PVD show in NY since 2001. I was actually pleasantly surprised, minimal cheese and he played much harder than I thought. Hopefully he comes back to NY soon, by himself this time.

This is the only footage I've ever seen of him at Roxy. It was his last gig there. Insane night.

His Twilo sets were great, his two Crobar sets were also great but nothing beats his Roxy gigs. The only thing that comes close is when he played Arc on a Monday night (two days after his first Roxy party). Legendary . The energy in Roxy used to be off the charts, it was the perfect place for him - 2-8ish, at least 6 hours, no bs bottles service or anything. He was untouchable back then.

I don't know what it is about PvD for me but I haven't missed a gig of his in NY since 1998 with maybe one or at the most two exceptions. Ok three tops
His Twilo gigs were why I bought turntables
His one year anniversary was a night I'll never forget.....The place was pulsing for hours and I am sure there is a little spot somewhere on West 27th that is still vibrating.
There was a bit of a hiatus so we drove to Toronto to check him out at Guvernment and then to DC to check him out at the Armory (Scott Henry stole his lunch money this night)
He made a stop pre Roxy at Sound Factory and murdered the place
Can't say enough about the Roxy gigs - High high energy - Big but intimate - We always rolled with a deep crew / at minimum 30 heads
Summerstage / Crobar / The Pier - Webster Hall / Roseland / Terminal 5 / Scheduled my Ibiza trip around his gig (Played with Tiesto - 2004)
So many fun memories - I could go on for hours about it all
Next stop Berlin - That's the hope anyway....
And from there one of the big Euro festivals - Maybe two if I am lucky
This was fun, thanks for reading

Nostalging from Roxy times
I recorded some vids too. They were very strict about cams or any recording devices but I managed to smuggle it in towards the end. Too bad I didnt record longer vids
For an Angel
Place going nuts
I bought one of PVD's t shirts at the place. When he finished his set, I was close enough to throw my shirt over to him, he signed it and threw it back. Still have it.

Those of us fortunate enough experience the Roxy days all miss him at Roxy. His set, although short, was definitely one of his better recent ones. He started hard and never lost energy. It really is a shame that 3 hours is them most we'll get out of a DJ these days.
