Looking at this thread, just made me nostalgic about my first thanksgiving as a trancer. Oakenfold was a at Hammerstein and don't remember who was playing, but Centro Fly was still open; and Limelight was not Avalon yet, lol. Those things just came to mind when I was making plans for that Thanksgiving:)
As for these days, I was intially thrilled when I saw S8andT and Tritonal (more the former than the latter) but quickly went into doubt mode when I saw that it was booked at Pacha. I've had my issues with it, but don't want to fully discount it. It is better than having nothing. It's funny but an old-school trance friend and I were just discussing the merits and demerits of Pacha and Webster Hall yesterday (it was an aside about another discussion we were having about the problems with the recent Sasha party being where it was) And while we both have reservations about both, we both think Webster is slightly better. Maybe if Tritonal and S8andT would be at Webster Hall and PVD at Pacha, lol?
What I'm afraid of PVD at Pacha is overcrowding. Because even at the sides it can be uncomfortable, and, seeing that I have not seen PVD spin since Crobar, I think it was, I would hate not to have any space to dance to anything that he would play that night:( |

| This would be so much better at Roseland or Terminal 5 |

Thumbs up for this ! My exact sentiments also. I've been very "meehh" about going to shows/parties with these types of DJs doing their Beatport tracks. I had a tweet with Porter about this

one thing that's changed in me over the last 2 years is that i now value uniqueness in music more highly than optimization. weird > perfect

@porterrobinson Isn't our music unique in the first place?I'd like to see more DJs/Producers to be more unique but keep their original sound
What I missed the most is the 4+ hours headlining set by just one DJ for an event, PVD, Sasha and Digweed, Ferry and old/20s Armin, even Oakie. Guess what they have had in common; all spun on SL1200s decks and vinyls. You need proper set time to build and take the crowd onto a journey with their music.
Now the promoters just want to sell out venues (nothing wrong with that). I like varieties also and would be appreciated to see more of my favorite DJs. However, it's getting ridiculous with just an hour sets. It's like the all-you-can-shuffling buffet!

yup its TOTALLY like this right now. ugh...i cant count the amt of debates/arguments ive had with current fans of the scene who love this and um hell no i won't accept it. i started to hear the repetitions by djs a few yrs back (different shows within a 6 month period) and i got really annoyed by this. Why would i pay to hear different djs spin the SAME tracks in a set?? thats where my disinterest started...i never cared to hear the *popular stuff* but what was unique to each dj/producer. Sets definitely used to be magical back in the day. that is seriously lacking these days...theres only SO much untz untz and cheesy vocals i can take >.< |

Can anyone confirm more details about this? There is still nothing on Pacha NYC's website about Tritonal/S8&T, just PVD's Evolution Tour.
I'm not doubting their going, I just find it odd Pacha isn't promoting their being there at all. |

Why bother with ty Pacha when you can have a really nice Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, spend time with family, do a little online BF shopping, finish work on Friday, hit the road on Friday night down to DC, and kick it old skool in the spacious Echostage with cheap drinks and more attractive crowd? |
