they are a recognized people and are still fighting for complete equality

i completely agree that all people are equal, however it's not the issue here

as it has been stated by many gay backers, it's genetics that make one homosexual

it's also genetics that make some people deaf, blind, and born with various other handicaps

you can say that those people are still normal, but special in their own way. BUT they are still called handicapped and 'special' because they are not like the majority of human beings. being deaf, blind etc. is just another birth defectm so we can consider being gay a birth defect.

so we accept the less fortunate into society right?

as we should accept gays into our society as the sexually handicapped

:)

let the flaming begin, but remember, i do make a good point

it all depends on how one views the world... i exist as i am, why label me disabled... thats so ridiculous... my penis works, i can have sex with women. Whatever dude...

but that's not the way you should be born, all genes functioning properly would make a person have eyesight right??

i think people that say things like that need to realize their place in the world... Who are you? what relationship do you have to me to tell me that im abnormal... We all are one this moment my friend...

just like being born blind. you can't help it right?

but that's not the way you should be born, all genes functioning properly would make a person have eyesight right??

in other words, being gay is abnormal

What a crap!!

I know a few gay people, also in my family.
Before they told people their was no big deal.
People think differ when they KNOW someone is gay.
Gay people are just like everybody else.
I can laugh with those guy's/girls
They where born this way....just like i was born and be a hetro.

'you should be born as hetro human'
Thats so facking untrue!

I thing you based your opinion on your religion....or whatever.

And about your points.....gay/blind (and other problems with the human body), it's no problem, it's no misfunction, everybody looks it in the negative way.

I see this in a positive way, if i see that gay people are happy...have a great relationship, have a good job..... i'm happy for them.

I can't believe how ignorant, misinformed, biggoted, and just plain retarded some people are on this thread.

There is a lot of talk about we have to be in the norm of society and that homosexuality isn't normal, etc. I heard a speaker once say that being normal is just being the highest case of average. Sorry but being average doesn't agree with me too much. Besides who said being inside the norms of society was good anyway. If everyone did everything the same old way nothing new would happen, and society would become stagnant. The greatest discoveries of our time happened because people didn't listen to the norm and listened to what they believed and knew to be true. Trust me normalcy doesn't always mean that it is right. The earth is not the center of the universe and evilution does exist.

That is correct, but not every change and every deviance from normality is a positive one. Both a genius and an idiot are deviating from normality. But one trait is positive while the other isn't.
quote:

Sidenote: Evolution (Male / Female Compatibilty)
Last time I checked we came from microscopic proto-life that didn't have any sex and reproduced through mitosis. The only reason sex was introduced into the equation was because it introduced variation and adaptation into life of a particular species. What if evolution took a different path? Who is to say that homosexuality is not an intended variation?

Evolution doesn't work in a way variations are intended. A variation occurs, and if the specimen with the variation is able to have more offspring than the one without the variation, that variation becomes predominant in the species, while other variations die out. I truly don't see how gay people could have more offspring than straight people so from evolutionary point of view it is a defect, and quite a serious one, because offspring of people who are genetically predisponed to be gay could hardly outnumber regular ones.

Anyway, as someone said earlier, regardless of the fact that gays are not normal (since normal is generally considered to be average) that doesn't mean they should be mocked or anything. But being gay could in no way be classified as a positive genetic variation because the individual with that defect is unwilling and therefore unable to reproduce. I think we all agree that people who are physically unable to have children do have a defect. Yet still noone mocks them, nor are they demanding that the people admit their defect may infact be a positive thing. The defect that makes a person gay doesn't have any effect on that individual's life, except sociological one, and they may be happy with what they are, but personal pleasure is not related to defectiveness. You have many retarded people who are at the same time happy because they're being cared for in a good way and don't understand they infact do have a defect. Still they are defective, and their happines has nothing to do with their defect.

Homosexuality is as much genetic as it's environmental. I once knew gay identical twins. They were both quite effeminate, but I believe you have to take people for the sum of their parts and not judge them solely one issue. Last time I checked the typical stereotypes are changing. I have gay friends you could spot from a mile away and other you wouldn't know unless they told you. I have seen straight men dress (quite well) and I have gay friends who couldn't coordinate if their lives depended on it. Does that make them any more/less gay? I have acted "gay" since I was 5. I definitely didn't learn about because I didn't know anything about homosexuality until my parents took me to see the movie Philadelphia. I only understood the movie recently when I watched a year back. Homosexuality wouldn't be something I would have chosen, but instead of trying to change something I can't change, I try to help change what I know I can. That is what gay pride parades are about. It is about a community getting together and accepting each other in a world with people that will not accept them.

Ok, I agree with you there.
quote:

In response to the TAs who said that they wouldn't want homosexuals to touch them and/or hit on them. My response is "Grow Up!" Not every women in the world likes being hit on by every straight guy in sight. So big deal! A gay guy hit on you. Just say you aren't interested and go on your way. I am sure you've probably had a similar rejection from the opposite sex. And not every homosexual is a sex-crazed manic that is on the prowl for some action. Wait did I just describe a typical straight college frat boy? My mistake.

I'd still rather have a girl touch me than a guy. But really, that's not a serious issue, so I don't care about that much.
quote:

I believe that gays (being one) should have the right to marry for many reasons. Many major corporations support domestic partner benefits because they realize that the GLBT community is worth supporting. Marriage also gives over 1000 benefits to couples. It includes more than tax breaks. (Some straight couples don't want kids while other get married to put them in a lower tax bracket. Does that make them liable to lose their benefits?) It includes power of attorney, inheritance, and many other legal aspects that are not covered today in many same-sex couples. Besides at least these "marriages" (I use the term loosely) are ones made because of the love. Who cares that they are the same sex? Marriage, originally, was never about love. They were originally used as political tools and the merging of two families assests together. You can call it whatever you want: marriage, union, partnership. If not in the religious sense, then in the financial sense marriages should be allowed.

Imo couples without children shouldn't be allowed to have the same benefits as ones with children, regardless of their sexual orientation. For other matters, like attorneys and stuff, I am not very well introduced into them so I won't comment on that.
quote:

There is nothing inherently wrong with 2 gay men adopting a child and raising it on their own. There are many reasons why they shouldn't and I will try to refute them.

People believe that there kids will be traumatized because their parents are gay.
Well I wonder why? If current attitudes persist and are passed down to children then obviously there is a chance that they might be ridiculed. Kids pick on anything thats different because it doesn't fit their view of normalcy. Let me guess where there view of normalcy came from. People aren't born with prejudice, hate, and bigotry. It's instilled.

Yes, I agree here. But before that hate is removed from people, children having gay parents will be traumatized.
quote:

You need to have a mother and a father.
What about single parents? I didn't hear anyone complain that single parents shouldn't have kids. Furthermore, who is to say you need a "father" and a "mother." I thought you needed "parents." Good parenting is determined by love, compassion, and understanding. It didn't say you had to be straight.

Well, single parents also aren't the best solution, but as I said, normal couples should have the priority in adopting.
quote:

You need to have breast milk.
Many straight couples opt not to give their children breast milk. So this point is moot.

It's not a necessity, but it's highly recommended.
quote:

The kid will turn gay.
Considering that many straight couples have gay children, I don't see how a gay couple has any more likelihood of having gay children than of having straight children.

Ok, I partially agree with that.
quote:

The kid will be abused.
Last time I checked pedophiles were usually straight. Besides they wanted a kid because they wanted to give their love (platonic) to another human being. To take a child that wasn't wanted and give it a loving home. I don't see anything inherently wrong with that.

Yes, that's a stupid argument.

So remember...the world is full of enough hate...it has to stop somewhere

Yes, gays shouldn't be hated, but still we need more psychological studies to see how/if gay parents are affecting children, and whether it is a positive or negative effect.

look buddy, i'm not attacking you personally, so don't start on the 'i need tp realize my space' 'i'm insecure' BS

you said being gay is genetic.

great! i back u up on it. but it's not the way things were intended in the genetic code. there was a mutation, a mistake.

how much more obvious could it be?

dammit just look around you, how much of the world is gay and how much isn't?

I know for a fact that in the UK, if it came out that a kid had gay parents they would be ripped apart...its how society is I'm afraid.

I used to be really homophobic...now some of my best friends are gay.

People who are 'scared' of gays need to get over the fact that just because they are gay doesn't man they are going to hold you down and bum you.

I still don't believe a gay couple should adopt children...but thats just my opinion.

But I have nothing personal against them just because of their sexuality.

And my theory is proved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are arguing from a defencive standpoint and not an objective one.

Try to look at things in a holistic way, as I have been doing if you look back at my posts (except the insult one - which was still great:D )

thats funny... my friends didnt know i was gay... some people, you can tell some you cant. I too think people are gay before knowing and talk about it sometimes... its a bad thing to do cause it doesnt really nurture their coming out process if they are gay
