Yes! They all the look the same, similar costumes as well....hard to keep up at times. I usually have to do the Wiki as well. That's why I love that facebook recap of the episode, feel dumb, but sometimes helps.
Also, I watched the last half of season 2 after a few stiff double scotches and a bottle of wine, it was fascinating I was totally engaged, but I don't think it soaked in.

lol and they cut out a lot of characters from the books!!

So far 5 books with a plan on 7 in total. Third book is more or less split into seasons 3 and 4, although there's going to be more and more material from books 4 and 5 that will be eventually blended into the show as it progresses (they've already done that with a few scenes). It's not a straight 1 season = 1 book translation at this point.
As for the dragons growing up...Dany gets to ride Drogon (the black one that they show most of the time) in the fifth book ;)
As an aside, I'm kind of curious as to how the TV series will play out in the long term. The fifth book is as big as the third, so in theory that material could translate into 2 seasons as well (and just to make your brain ooze a little more: book four, and more than half of book five happen at the same time but from different perspectives/locations).
The sixth book is supposedly just as long...so this show could go on for 8-10 seasons in total (LMAO), but I can't see how they could sustain momentum for that long, even though the books do stay rather consistent in quality.
Now, there's already been some big omissions, and that will continue as the TV series progresses due to the fact that they can't follow the books word for word, but what's going to happen once they catch up to the books and eventual surpass them? The producers know the general idea of how it ends, but still...would they actually wrap up the show before the books?

I have a feeling George Martin is going to get chained to a computer and be forced to finish the series. :p

Yea right lol...sixth book is scheduled for a 2014 release (ugh)...which would be three years after the fifth. IF book seven is the last one, then I'm sure he would take his time to make sure it's perfect, all the while maintaining that EVERYTHING (every little plot detail) adds up. Assuming there's no delays to book six, we're looking at AT LEAST another 4-5 years before the series wraps up.
Then there's the theory that he might not live that long which is even more troubling to us book fans. And I vaguely recall him stating that he would forbid anyone else finishing the series for him a'la Brandon Sanderson finishing Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series. If that were the case, then that tragedy would be infinitely worse than Ned Stark dying.
edit
Anywho, I'm enjoying season 3 thus far. Would've liked to have seen Jaime Lannister put up a better fight against Brienne (he IS the greatest swordsman on the planet, afterall) but oh well.

TBF you have to take into account that Jaimie Lannister was starved, poorly treated and tired as hell ever since he's been captured.

Oh I know. It was even mentioned in the books that he tired himself out, as opposed to Brienne defeating him (and that Brienne feared fighting him when he's at full strength). Still...I dunno if they showed his skill off accurately. I'm nitpicking of course. heh

And that's a bad thing because......?
Anyways, I love the show even if it seems like the producers are clueless as to what they're doing at times (the season 3 opening didn't really make sense, for one)...and I'm still holding a bit of a grudge for what they did with the House of the Undying part in the show vs. the book version.
Other than that it's a great, one-of-a-kind show. I just hope they tone down on the unnecessary sex scenes and replace them with stuff that fleshes out characters and their stories, but this is HBO so there's probably a sex scene quota they have to hit.
I gotta say Ygritte looks way better in outside of the show. Same with Dany.
Ygritte is also in Downton Abbey :) but yeah, she's very much toned down for this show
and in terms of writting - they work closely George R.R. Martin so it seems they have his approval
