Interesting news on Trance and the current EDM industry:

Help spread the education of Trance music, an often under-exposed market in North America.

LOL, how did this get on an NBC news site? Is there some section on there where you can submit your own stories now or something?

The author opposes ongoing (2009-2013) theories within the Wikipedia Trance and Techno music pages.

I was looking all over to find a "submit your own press release" button, and then I figured that he may have faked the link, but nope. :wtf:

NBC has a content-sharing deal with Marketwire, a firm that automatically releases press releases. I doubt anyone at NBC ever actually looked at the article or approved it. Just an automatic bull thing.

Yeah, I saw the copyright notice and figured it was something like that.

If anyone's interested...

Jesus, couldn't they have picked a more culture appropriate cover design? Just some chick in exercise clothing doing yoga.

"As at 2012, House music has..."

Wow. Poor grammar right at the start.

Edit: Reading further down (with Amazon's 'look inside' feature, of course), it comes off like an entry level college essay. And for 's sakes, 'TRANCE HOUSE'??? And I quote:

quote:
Trance House is a style (subgenre) of House music that originated from the Chicago House scene of 1986.

Straight LOLs.

i know its fun and all to criticize this guy, but in writing this book, he's probably done a lot more for the genre than most of us have. i can't even bring myself to write an essay. he deserves some credit. :)

Yeah, total credit with plumb claims such as this:

quote:
Dave Clarke for example, a misinformed Techno DJ, made some public comment at some point about Trance: "I think all trance DJs deep down are embarrassed by what they play. They take it on the chin! They know deep down they're playing watered-down techno." Dave Clarke's comment is false, add to the fact he knows very little about Trance. Trance has very little to do with Techno. His comment is also a falsity being that Trance is historically older than Techno. How could Trance be watered-down techno if it came before Techno.
