I've been working there for three months now.

As someone already pointed out, there's plenty of high school and college kids willing to do that work just to get some spending money. I don't think there's any lack of people willing to fill those roles. |

i pay my cleaning lady more than 15$ an hour and she is probably less skilled than a mcdonalds employee...

| is defecting all its cracked up to be ? I don't want to absorb any culture, i just want to be revered for my skin and bone cute asian kids all day and all night. I would be a deficit on the balance books but it seems being white is worth something there ? Should i cue good times or am I misinformed. |

I'm off white, but life is ridiculously easy for me here (other than the food and language issues.) I'll be honest. This is China's time. I'm like my grandparents immigrating for a better life, except arriving here with a generally higher social status than most of the residents due to nothing more than appearance.
Here, imported goods are king. Maseratis are the new Honda Accord. Money gets thrown liberally because they do not know what to do with it. I am an imported good. It is pretty swell.
The kicker is that the west set up this imbalance by outsourcing and wanting cheaper goods. They ed up pretty royally. They laugh at you guys as poor because you buy the garbage that they sell you.
I'm not going back. I work hard, but the trade-off is a joke. Easy to bank 50% of your salary and still live at a higher standard than back home.
