i tried to get smashed as possible with 9$ strongbows and 8$ sopporo + shots and no matter how ed i got the music sucked. lawler was boring, tech house. tuskegee were absolutely pathetic. to me it sounded like edm. thats my two sense and i didn't see any one before that. thank heavens that detroit movement is around the corner with some proper music.

electro island just sucks now.............................

I saw the pics and there were a load of ppl there. Honestly Coda/Platform/Footwork have built up such a strong brand now, that ppl will still go these parties despite their nonsense, and the lineups are usually alright, but them anyway. I'm only gonna go to the Sasha one but even that is up for debate.

I'll give my review of Furcoat to the millions of lurkers on this site.

I got to the Gossip venue around 7 or so... I thought they woulda had a more open venue like on a grassy field outside somewhere but whateves. The girl sorting out tickets and cover was taking forever doing it and she needed help clearly, but once inside I quickly discovered that you can't get drinks in the bigger bar inside the resto and only on the two bars outside the venue, which slowly ran out of different types of drinks as the event went on. I dunno who was opening but they were ok, Fur Coat came on at 8 and played harder, but the set didn't really start coming together until after 930 or so and they started playing really well. They played until 11 PM or so which was great and for those that stayed there, were treated to an awesome set near the end of it. I would check Fur Coat out again.

as a sidenote, I'm tired of some of these phony local DJs in the scene who are so concerned with their ego or self-worth that they can't even properly talk to you (you guys know who you are). Like I'm just saying hi or whats up and you can barely muster up to say hi, even after I've supported your events. outta here.

Yeah the whole thing was a show. Same , in fact WORSE , different location. I don't know why I continue to go to these things. I always just get embarrassingly drunk anyway, lol.

Actually the only reason I even wanted to go to this one was because of Simon Jain and Burridge, but I worked nights Sunday and slept too late Monday to make Simon's set, and Burridge didn't even make it. Which I'm actually glad for and not even surprised. I know he got stuck at Laguardia or whatever, but good God I actually can't even fathom him being part of that whole mess, and for only a couple hours to boot. that.

Yeah, I think I'm over these events too.

I just don't care to go to the event anymore now that the novelty of it has worn off.

The music was OK yeaterday as it has been for most of them, a few good tunes here and there but no memorable sets from anyone. Kinda dull & plodding mostly tbh. The new space is bigger, but yes I preferred the old location too.

So yeah, for me it's just not worth the time (travel time / water taxis / ferry / waiting for ferry etc) & money ($60 at the door). I somewhat get the $60 tag as there are more headliners on the bill to pay for (at the same time it's also a bigger space with more paying customers) but I'd rather have less djs anyways and have the djs play for more then 1.5 hours.

In closing ... MEHHHH

Pan Pot were alright though.

I'm hearing two polar opposites of the spectrum on these parties. Either it was amazing and the logistics and planning of it all was great, and everyone had a fun time. OR, what you guys are saying.

But you're all cynical bastards too though.

I'm still going to try to catch at least one this year. Probably Civic because I know some friends want to go to that.

I may bail on Canada Day since it's mid-week and seeing Sasha in Detroit the weekend before.

I'm very happy I stayed in for a relaxing Victoria weekend for the first time in about a decade if not longer... 15 years?

Anyway I'll go to the Canada Day party and maybe Labor Day. But that's about it. The novelty of this party is worn off last year so really, maybe I'm just not into this anymore but I'll still give it a chance.

The first year was the best. The first party of the second season with Sven was awesome but then it went downhill.
dinosaurbingo
it was okay... nothing comes close to the first year when people knew who was up there djing...

................ lol

It was also nice to see Steve Lawler in the booth alone and being professional, not surrounded by a bunch of dj whore cunts and fanboys like that time at that Viva Warriors warehouse party. Ugh god I hate people, lol.

Pretty much.

sure it was bigger, but they didn't even have sanitizer in the stalls. you had to go to one station in the middle of the stalls, if you were in the middle of the crowd it is such a chore to get a drink or use the washrooms. finding the exit was a maze, as they didn't let us out from where we came? staff pointed us to one direction got there and they pointed us elsewhere. security took off my shoes to search for drugs lol. every next kid was either asking do you have molly do you want molly or putting it in their drinks. lawler i was disappointed in because he actually has the ability to play a good set, but it was bland tech-house with those 'drops'. personally i never liked seth troxler as a dj or producer, same with martinez brothers, but together i gave them the benefit of the doubt. they were double the of either party. the crap they were playing was outrageously bad. edm has trickled its way down. on top of that the ferry there- was like some sort of crab fishing vessel and took a long time to arrive.

TBH im not sure how anyone could say this party was amazing. the essence of the festival is supposed to be good music and everything else second. the music was not good. not even close. hearing the same 'da duh da duh' bass line for extended periods of time makes me want to go on murderous rampages. proceeded to get shift faced on 10$ drinks essentially and it still wasn't happening. some guy let us smoke some of his joint and still the music didn't sound any better. best decision was to cut out early as a ferry was there. proceeded to try to topple my mcdonalds record and i ate a double bigmac combo and 10 nugget combo with poutines. that was my highlight.

now rewind back to nest, i posted in another thread, daniel dubb was not bad at all. some nice house vibes. he did play pretty long- till about 330. i wanted danny earlier. danny came on and started kinda slow, but by no means bad. i wish i could have stayed but i bounced around 5-530. at that point i wasn't really tired. but the heat was actually unbearable. the worst I've felt. it was impeding my ability to have a good time. with all parties involved in this new club, you would not expect such an amateur move as to overlook heat issues. i am contemplating just shredding my hernan tickets because the drive to detroit the next day is going to be a bit hard and with no circulation of cool air i can't even get in a zone. have to step outside every 10 minutes or pour a bottle of water on your head.

marcel dettmann ? i didn't see him on the list. but holy . edit: lol lee foss on that list. that party won't make no sense. dennis ferrer playing house to lee foss' garbage at 105 bpm and being too ed to mix a record. then we go on to some techno and then sasha. tbh they should just make a stage near the bathrooms because its a huge wasted space and just let dettmann play there all day.

Yeah I water taxied it over and noticed what looked like a boat packed full of Bangladeshi migrants headed for land on whatever boat that was. It looked gross lol

And the bathroom situation / no running water was equally off putting.
