Well, it looks like it's crashed at the 100% mark of Creating Windows Media.

I'll wait a bit but otherwise, this sucks.
DJ RANN
Cheers microsoft

Thanks, Obama.

"Something happened" :stongue:

See, I was kinda tempted by this, but I just KNEW they'd find a way to it up. That sucks man, I hope you can get it sorted.
DJ RANN
Lol, thanks guys.

Thankfully nothing ed up on the computer, it was just the final dialog from the W10 USB creation tool.

Love that you just get "something happened". No , Bill.

So it installed then? Or you reverted back to the old version?

Nah, it's just the tool that lets you create a USB bootable drive. After downloading all 3gb of the files and trying to complete the drive, that's the final message I got from the tool. So nothing installed yet but I'm attempting again - I formatted the USB (didn't the first time around as the tool is meant to do it for you) so I'll see what happens this time. Really dumb though that it has to download the file all over again.

I'm at 60%.....:nervous:

Makes you wonder what other popup messages W10 will have. I'm gonna guess:

"Whatever "

"Did you try rebooting?"

"As if"

"Not even gonna go there"

"Eh?"
DJ RANN
lol, so ing true.

If it fails again I'm probably going to get a picture of Bill Gates in sunglasses captioned: Deal with it

EDIT. Success! Well at least the USB drive part. Now time to install.....gulp

Rann's gone quiet. A little... too quiet.

No windows 10 for me, thank you. I'm sticking with 7 until I'm forced to upgrade. Not taking a chance that something will go wrong with my production setup.

If win 10 is the last version of windows, ever, how does MS plan to make money in the future? Since after win 10, we'll never have to buy an upgrade O/S ever again. Doesn't make any sense. I suppose you buy a copy when you get a new device, but still, that's a lot less buying. It will be nice to never have to upgrade O/S again, that is if you are happy with win 10.

The PC market is shrinking, mobile rules the land. That's bound to eventually affect desktop PC audio production. Higher costs perhaps. If so, a lot of us will switch to laptops for production, which would suck of course.

I think the idea is that Windows 10 is far more multi-platform than previous versions. Massive crossovers between their desktop/mobile/tablet stuff that all fits together "seamlessly". They need people on board with basic desktop/laptop operation (ie. a good slab of the massive business market) to help push their mobile and tablet offerings to compete with Apple and Android.

This is a smart move for them.
