not sure what w10 does that win7 doesn't, apart from rape your privacy.

i put win10 in and rolled back to 7, thought it was e.

serato have discontinued scratch live, so it won't be getting a w10 update. have no real reason to upgrade anyhow, other than to mentally have the latest shiny thing.

the pirate version will be much more hassle free, especially when going for a clean install... no rigmarole to go through. they will probably rip out the tracking stuff too, so all good.

Just an update:

Windows have finally rolled out a new update (version 1151) and they've finally (and thank ) done away with the need to update your existing wiindaz (7 or 8.1.) to W10.

You can now fresh install w10, and use a valid W7 or W8.1 key to activate it.

One BIG caveat though: It has to be the same version of windows, so if you have 8.1 home, you can only install W10 Home. If you have W7 Premium, then you can install W10 PRO.

If you are in the USA, whatever you do, DO NOT INSTALL W10 PRO "N"!

IT is the European version and Microsoft will not give you support in the USA (which is the dumbest thing ever seeing as the microsoft media creation tool creates a bootable disk that gives you the option to install W10 Home, Pro and Pro N.

I also don't understand why they are limiting you to a lesser version based on your previous version, considering it's a free upgrade regardless.

Overall, it is a good move and I really have no idea why they just didn't allow you to use your old OS key in the first place.

Eh, I hate that the Windows.old folder just got deleted without any warning whatsoever. I never moved my apps somewhere else, so that means I am going to have to install my DAW, plugins, games, and other software again.

Yep, it automatically deletes 4 weeks after an install to save space. If it hasn't been 4 weeks, then make sure view hidden files is enabled in prefs and it should be there.

Got my son a new computer for Christmas (Alienware Alpha) and immediately upgraded to Windows 10. I liked it so much that I upgraded my old Dell i5 laptop from W7 to W10 and I've started toying with Sonar on it. I may have to make the leap from W7 to a fresh install of W10 on my main desktop computer next, but that's going to be a long weekend and them some to reinstall everything.

tried win10 again, fresh install from usb iso.
seems fine, however unfortunately the are no drivers for my wifi yet so i reinstalled 8.1, which also is just fine lol.
Reason works on everything without problem so OS doesnt interest me anymore I can always adapt to new start menues, tiles and themes (preferably at work and not on spare/free time).

You do know you can run legacy drivers in compatibility mode in w10? In other words, you can use a 8.1 driver on W10 if a W10 driver isn't available. No need to downgrade back to 8.1

I wouldn't even try it with something crucial like a soundcard/interface or drive, and although it might be buggy, you'll be fine for wifi.

A few days ago, I had met the headache things that I had forgotten Windows login password. The login screen rejected my password. I was frustrated because there was very important data on my disk and I couldn¡¯t reinstall the OS. However, I fortunately got Windows Password Key to reset forgotten Windows password instantly yet no data loss. It is really a nice Windows password recovery software. I get it from http://www.lostwindowspassword.com

I did the Windows 7 > 10 upgrade a few weekends ago and, so far, everything is working perfectly. I actually did an upgrade over my old installation (as opposed to a clean install), and I was pretty shocked at how smoothly it went. The only issue I had to deal with was re-authorizing a dozen or so plugins. W10 renamed my computer, so a bunch of plugins (e.g., Spectrasonics, ToonTracks) had to be reauthorized to recognize the new installation. Live seems to be working perfectly, although, I haven't used it very extensively since upgrading to W10.

cool mate, good to hear

reason im asking is that the offer appears to expire in 9 days

God...the thoughts of reinstalling everything

Yeah, Live works perfectly with W10.

Come to think of it, I haven't come across a single program that doesn't.
