Well, that was kinda my point in this thread that some people you just hang around with becuase you've known them for a long time, not necessarily that you have much in common or much to relate to or particularly get on. It's habit and comfort.
I think you get to a point when if you're able to see past the history, you just ask, would I be friends with this person if I met them now? If the answer isn't yes, then why are you still in contact. |
hard to let go of the past |

the washrooms in clubs are usually a complete ing disaster with piss everywhere / awkward setups for taking s its just not a good scene. even if you pull the hover maneuver it still feels like you're in world war 2 with going on around you, idiots bangin on the door and knows what else. |
^ So much win here.

Today, I have opened up to religion and meditation -- study them all, and focus on 'transcendental meditation' if you are interested; some friends swear re:ayahuasca, so I am planning a little south american tour.
The best advice I can give anyone on this board, is to enjoy and live life to the max. Be a bit selfish, but don't forget to be charitable. |
Thanks for sharing that... though I think ppl need to be in the proper state of mind for ayahuasca... it's not a casual trip. |

There was a story a few weeks back, girl on a first date at his place takes a dump and the toilet backs up... |
A mate of ours brought his new GF along and before we all went out, we stopped at one friend's house. She asked to go to the toilet and did a dump so ing potent, it didn't just block the toilet, it destroyed the entire plumbing system in their new bathroom and the main drain line for the four floors below that. He never heard the end of that one. |

I'm so ing bored of people here in LA banging on about ayahuasca. It's not so special when everyone does it and I think a lot of people talk themselves in to how meaningful it is.
I've got one friend who has done the "full course" (i.e. 4 or 5 different times). The first couple he was super evangelical about it and how it changed his life (blah blah blah) and now he just sort of has the opinion it was all little more than a really powerful trip and in the grand scheme didn't amount to much.
Had another close friend do it recently and at first it was all the epic experience that cured everything, even some physical aches/old injuries, but 6 months later it's made no long term discernible difference mentally or physically.
Them shamans know how to take money off the gringos. |

I've found that in my early 40's it has became a case of quality over quantity in respect of friendships.
I've still got a pretty active social life but on the same token, I have so much me time and I love it.
There is no need for me to speak to every single friend I have every single week.
The guy I've been friends with for over 27 years.... We can still pick up the phone every couple of months and it's like we spoke yesterday.
Oh and I ditched Facebook. There is probably only 20 or so people on the entire planet that I really give a whats going on in their lives. |

| Been here in Sac for nearly 2 years and I still can't make friends. I tell ya once you hit 30 it's so much harder. No one trusts each other, everyone's on their phone, even coworkers aren't that reliable. I've pretty much given up at this point. |
