Some new Rise of Skywalker footage (pg. 10)

I feel the need, at this point, to interject and state that Star Trek is clearly better than Star Wars, though I love both. I have all sorts of histograms, bar charts, pie charts, line charts, and 3-year moving averages to prove this, but I can't be bothered to post them.

Most simply, Star Trek is better because of Picard, a true badass. And that space poon slayer, Riker. And my man Geordie who always gets the job done, provided he gets a little more time. And obviously Data.

I find nothing wrong with these statements.

*triggered* :haha::haha:

i respect the first iteration if only because of the state of TV at the time but star trek reflects (and is significantly responsible for) the show and deserved derision of the genre on television until...well, that stink is still around.

the most obvious issue is it coined and perpetuated the 'monster of the week' narrative. MotW is like picking up a book which contains all the same characters but no chapter has any relevance to any other. no character development. no plot. no concepts that last more than the length of the scheduled program. if you look at TV today it's pretty obvious this format is outmoded*.

similarly to the no character development complaint- nobody ever dies in star trek other than the unfortunate extra(s) who was wearing the wrong coloured uniform. no worries kirk/picard, we have plenty of those motherers hanging around.

and star trek's problems are too often solved by reversing the polarity of the flux capacitor's tangent by implanting the energy carefully into the jap's eye. the political or tactical solutions of other series are for more nuanced and satisfying. its pretence of being hard science fiction is bollocks.

the reason star wars (despite not being a tv series, yet!) is better than star terk is because there's consequence, emotion and loss.

*star trek discovery had learned from all of this and the first season was excellent, but for reasons i don't understand it regressed back to its MotW, flux capacitating fulness for season 2.

PS rann licks his nanna.

You are so wrong, PKC, but I have to sleep now so I will only say this: you couldn't go toe to toe with Picard, you weak fool!

Hey Trekkies, what do you think of this?

You wouldn't be able to express any of those things even about something you do think is good. It's become abundantly apparent from years of watching you flailing around trying to argue that if you did ever have to submit a written essay for marking, it would come back lathered in red pen and with concerned recommendations for additional after-school tutoring.

Ah, jack.

The beautiful irony - that here sits a guy complaining about others not writing essays of chocked full of what he personally deems critical thinking.....works in a job that requires him to make signs, possibly the most perfunctory use of language there is for other people (often in welsh no less), is not lost on me (after school tutoring or otherwise).

And this is a common thread with you; if someone disagrees with you, you vociferously contend that their points are "flailing around" or don't make sense. That is only true becuase you always want to control the conversion about the point you want to make and be heard on, not the actual point in hand or the one someone else is making.

But that aside, are you so stupid you don't know how to criticise a film or show you don't like? If you need a handy tutorial, I can refer to one of the many posts where I shredded Prometheus a new one. Prometheus wasn't a poignant commentary on anything except the dangers of letting Damon Lindelof rewrite your script at the last minute because the studio got cold feet, but it can still be entertainingly shredded for its many plot holes, implausible character motivations and hilariously underwritten creature concepts.

And this is a perfect example of it. You by your own admission haven't even watched an episode but you're thumping your keyboard complaining that someone who couldn't sit past episode three due to terrible production, acting and writing isn't making a commitment to the verbal or literary diarrhea you demand that qualifies as a response you want to see. You can't seem to grasp I have no intention of critically reviewing GoT anymore than I want to read and in depth analysis of your daily bowel movements. I've stated clearly (and purposefully bluntly) the plethora of problems I found with the show in my limited experience of watching it and I couldn't give a whether that rises to your bizarre standard of production critique.

And again, let's remember you can't for some reason explain why you don't like

Yet want me to review one that I find terrible?

Sure. I'll get right on that.

Like I said at the very start of the thread, it's practically an Internet sport these days to roast TV and films, and it's always entertaining to witness. If you want to do that: go ahead. But instead you've pissed thousands of words and a lot of wasted time on Google trying keep afloat a scuppered argument about sex scenes. And that's because you evidently don't know dick about good script writing. I mean, come on. You liked Prometheus.

I think it's actually sport to you. You wear the fact (and have mentioned it in this thread and others too) you didn't like Bladerunner 2049 as some misguided badge of honor, that disliking it somehow makes you part of an elite group of brilliant minds.

It doesn't make you special. It means you have an opinion like every other schmuck on this planet, myself included.....except just about every, you know, profesisonal film critic practically disagrees with you (but again I suppose that the point though right?).

I chortled at this, mainly becuase of that little green dragon in you bubbles up every_single_time, even though others on here know where I've worked, and who with (and also Marcus debunked your theory that the timeline was apparently "impossible").

So let's put it to bed. Once and for all. Via a wager? (as long as Stu agrees).

You donate £100 to the cause of my choice if I send proof, of lets says, that I worked on one of the biggest commercial movies of all time, and then lets say another acclaimed independent movie by a celebrated writer, and for good measure, proof that some of my friends are movie industry professionals you'll recognise.

If I don't prove it, I'll pay you £100. Easy enough?

My only caveat is that I'll only PM Stu (our resident mod) the proof and he'll either confirm or deny in this thread (simply becuase I trust him, and I know he won't doxx me or release where I work or who with etc).

You going to man up? Or scurry off? Or better still come up with some righteous reason as to why you don't want to entertain "such drivel" (etc, ad nauseum).

All up to you :)

Are you stalking me now, instead of that poor girl Mel who you emailed night and day for years straight? Do I "make you feel cold" and that's why you need to eat yourself silly?

Poor thing had to change her email and phone number. I'm still amazed she didn't take it further and you didn't get w_ashley level banned.
