Arf, this is why I love working in signage. Nobody has a clue what it entails - most people seem to assume I’m a graphic designer. In your head this probably sounded like a really cutting personal attack, but actually it’s just a few very, very foggy details I’ve mentioned about my job down the years thrown together as a wild swing in the dark. I’m client facing, mate. Written communication is probably the single key skill of my role.
Anyway, it’s obviously time to look back on this thread and recap. All I’ve really done is pull one paragraph you wrote which contains:
A) A failure to understand what PKC was saying.
B) A laughable logical construction intended to prove your point by oblique inference.
…and repeatedly taken the piss out of you for it while you get more and more angry and voluminous in response. I don’t care about GOT at all, but I don’t even need to have watched it to pick out the obviously ty arguments you were making. And I’m not seriously expecting you to write anything thoughtful and entertaining about this or any other TV show, because again: you don’t have it in you. You don’t know dick about this kind of thing. You’re just a loudmouth who, in the absence of any real ability to analyse this stuff, just regurgitates second hand pseudo-facts to try and sound informed. And please save me another 1500 words about how you’re totally capable of writing decent analysis but just can’t be bothered right now. We hear you. We just don’t believe you.

Of course I can explain, you wit, it’s just not remotely relevant. Are you really clinging on so desperately you'll try to use that as ammunition? So five minutes ago you were criticising Lews for referencing Rotten Tomatoes, an aggregator of professional critics, and now you’re appealing to their authority? Please keep this stuff going, it’s like a DJ RANN highlights reel in one handy thread.
As for your life story thing, I’ve no doubt that the broad details are true, and I’m not quite dumb enough to pay £100 to let you selectively prove the parts you’ve got evidence for. But you’re a known bullter who’s invented stats and embellished stories on numerous occasions, to the point it’s become a running joke that you’ve apparently been everywhere and know everyone. You might have noticed from posts like JEO’s earlier in the thread that half the people on TA just roll their eyes when you start talking about another one of your anonymous inside-track anecdotes. |

The thing is, you know, you just know that he's already formulating some bull about how he was referring to RT's audience scores, and he's probably scouring the Internet right now for some irrelevant stats about bots or some crap like that to carpet bomb this thread with, which he will then defend to the death for another 10,000 words. All despite the fact you clearly posted the critics' consensus.

The funniest thing about this thread is that I literally can't lose. I've advanced no positions, nothing that he can even try to punch holes in. That's why he's taking wild potshots at my job, my reasons for disliking other films, even for not apparently giving enough detail on why I don't watch TV... anything. It's quite ludicrous really that I've openly admitted to arguing about something I don't remotely care about just to piss him off, and he's STILL coming back for more. |

That's what I do and it worked last time about measuring tonearm height and after 2 weeks with no response, his come back was a "let's carry on". :stongue::stongue: |
