Yes, that's really clear. ing hell, you literally cannot understand what I'm saying to you, can you? You're accusing PKC of failing to make a distinction he made in the very post you replied to. And then as a bonus, you started trying to prove GOT has no artistic merit by analysing the commercial success of other projects, thus utterly undermining your own ty argument. Priceless. |

No you ferocious bellend, I understand exactly what you're saying but as I ing quoted for you (twice, just so it might have a chance to pierce the density of your mongoloid skull) he was saying it was both good AND successful.
But best of all, you're agreeing it was indeed in terms of quality, thus proving my entire ing point for me.
It's like trying to feed a muppet; you put the food in the mouth and it just comes out the sides, while they yell "me hungry". |

Ha I think you're confusing commercial success with with "good" content and they're not necessarily the same thing :p GoT was utter dross it's only really manchildreden (the same who keep these endless flow of superhero films popular) who like their incest porn to have dragons and swordfights. There was a really interesting analysis over on reddit a while back that demonstrated all but one of the major "stars" have been unable to capitalize on the success level of GoT and all of them had movies that underperformed, indicating that the shows success wasn't down to talent or writing (lol). |
How does the failure of other movies with the stars of GoT indicate that GoT's success had nothing to do with the writing?

I'm not sure I agree with that analysis at all. I found GoT to be absolute drivel and a large portion of the user base just watch it as an excuse to see big budget soft porn with dragons and CGI in weekly installments. The acting was terrible, the costumes and makeup and hair laughable (I didn't realize they had peroxide hair bleach in the middle ages) and the plot lines were as convoluted as they were daft, and mainly concluded with that person dying. HBO poured 10's of millions in to production and marketing prior to it ever airing. |
Where is your evidence that a large portion of the user base only wanted to see big budget soft porn?

I think you spelled it out yourself in that last sentence (not meaning to insult whatsoever but I think people who are in to "swords and sorcery" will overlook just about anything to get their fix.
Focussed on are arse? The main star of the show gets graphically raped at the end of the first episode. She gets taught how to in a pseudo lesbian scene at the beginning of episode two to avoid the nightly rape. By 3 she's completely naked.
And you say I'm the one focussed on that? The show is basically about incest, rape and death, and not so much about plotlines.
I get I'm banging my head against a wall with a fan because I've been down this road before - people who love all that crap just can't see past how bad it actually is. |
Ahh, yes, good point, the show clearly was not about plotlines at all.

Which makes a reply like "I think you're confusing success with good content" ing idiotic, doesn't it? It's completely obvious from what he wrote that PKC is not the kind of person who appeals to popularity, because his whole point was that these shows were exceptions by maintaining success and high quality simultaneously. Right from the start your entire line of reasoning has been utterly irrelevant, because you're trying to shoot down a position that was never put forward.

I haven't made a single statement with regards to the quality of GOT, because I've never watched it. Again, you're demonstrating an amazing ability to infer completely the wrong thing from written language.
If your whole point is to separate popularity and success from artistic merit, your argument against GOT should proceed exclusively along the lines of analysing the artistic qualities of the show. But you've barely done any of that, because frankly you lack the critical apparatus. Instead, you start analysing the success of other projects, which is the most moronic and contradictory thing you could have done, because you've just made such a point of saying success and quality and not interchangeable. |

| And since I can already see your dopey eyes lighting up from 7000 miles away: no, not having seen GOT does not invalidate anything I've said in this thread. Whether it's good or not is irrelevant to me - I'm never going to watch it, I couldn't care less. This is about your ridiculous attempts to prove something using all the wrong reasoning. |
