people die in our country all the time. but we dont give a about that, so why should we care and how is it any different if they die overseas? i mean we do care but we dont make a huge deal out of it.
how many people die from guns each year in the US? i think i remember something like 50,000. do u care about that?
im not being a harsh bastard, but seriously it happened. now get over it. i know it was a very bad thing that happened but stop making such a huge deal out of it. it was 2 years ago, let it be. |

No, we're not. I'm certain we all have sympathy for those people who died in the attacks. I think there's just a certain amount of cynicism that's been generated in response to American unilateral policy in the wake of the September 11 tragedy.
Time to stop playing the "We got attacked, so now the US deserves everybody's bleeding-heart sentiments for all time" card. It was tragic, and it was an abhorrent act, but the US went into Afghanistan for retribution. This I agree with. Then there was Iraq. This, I do not, and neither do most Australians. According to established convention, that was an international crime. Blatant disregard for the United Nations and the sovereignty of another nation-state is NOT justified by the tragedy of September 11.
The people who died have my eternal sorrow. Americans, as a whole, do not. I can't respect an attitude where criticism of a government going to war is 'unpatriotic'. A "superpower" with little regard for the world it could potentially dominate is just as bad as fundamentalist terrorism.
Am I generalising? Possibly, but frankly I could care less. |

| vtec junkie, of course we all feel sorry for your nation's loss but it's two years on and like has been mentioned it's time to move on. I could also say somthing about Amrozi and Samudra both sentenced to death and sitting in an Indonesian jail while osama is still running free but I won't. |

And what else happened on '9/11'?? in 1976??
30,000 Chilians died in a massive massacre. Now who knows that. No one, you know why, cause it didn't involve Americans.
SUre I feel sympathy for those that died and their families, but I think Bush should stop using it as an excuse to try out new toys. And what better excuse than Terrorism and 'Weapons of Mass Destruction"
Heres a Q: Why don't America's A-Bombs count as Weapons of Mass Destruction??:conf: :conf: :clown:
But yes I do feel for those families (I know how it feels, I had a friend in Bali) I just can't take President Bush (:haha: ) seriously. |
