haha, Zerotonin,
Would we be here at all if we weren't allies with the US? Might I remind you of WW2 and how 'close' the enemy came to our shores...

In regards to September 11, I usually take time out to remember the day America lost it's ego. Seriously though, I usually remember what I was doing and those close to me. I also remember how I thought two years ago to this day "I wonder if I'll be alive in two years time". Obviously I am.

Call me corny, but I'm glad that's the case.

Apart from that, its "Just another day, like any other day" for me.
Australian memorial days > Americas + worlds
(Lest we forget.)

In 25 years your patriot day will be simply another public holiday where you go round a friends place and watch a game of football. That is if the patriot act hasnt been repealed.

Second, how does a school shooting compare with a terrorist bombing? Thats like saying the university shooting that happened in the eastern states a while back here is the same as planes crashing into your WTC. Stupid.

Its horrible that so many civilians died unexpectedly, but you guys are mourning them simply because they were americans (ie lived in america). Do you create arguements over other nationalities after their unexpected losses? No. So why do you expect us to? Contrary to whats been said something that affects America doesnt necessarily affect the entire world.

Tranceeyes: Why do we need to get over ourselves? Because you disagree with us?

Point taken,
I'm just saying would Australia be a target for terrorism today if we weren't allies with the U.S., but a neutral country ??? I'm not trying to stir up any , I'm just making a point.

if the same thing happened to austrailians, i would still mourn, even for a year or 2 after that. i dont think our remembering the horror makes us stuck in the past.

and where did i say we only mourned for the loss of solely americans?

Yeah, it's hard to say. We probably would get caught up in it anyway.
I don't think Bali Bombings were a direct attack on Australia, just conveniently got more of 'our guys' than others. Personally I think 'those who are responsible' said they did mean to target Australians, purely as a scare tactic. I guess it worked.

I think we would be affected, neutral or not, due to being a 'western culture'.

um, what actions have you seen me do? isn't a forum only based on words?

i said this in the chillout and i am going to repeat myself:

i have THE utmost respect for people of all countries, please stop making it look like i have bad intentions. just because i am defending my country to some of the horrible things that people have said in here, does not make me some nazi.

i respect people from all races, backgrounds, countries, religions, and i would appreciate it if you would all do the same on such a sorrowful day. it is times like these that we need to stop fighting and come together as HUMANS, and not just from the country we are from.

:)

PLUR always

Completely supporting and backing you up TranceEyes

the action of creating a wtc rememberance thread, but neglecting a lot of other tragic events. You might as well say "yeah i mourn for those people too, when the media tell me to, and therefore so should you, regardless"

*Shrug* I can't say 'no' to that.
I'm just saying attacking us because of our culture, not because we like our big brother USA, is a more believable motive for me.
