i'm not going to insist that y'all appreciate, observe or even consider sept. 11 because it probably didn't affect you. but please have some respect for the people it did affect because it's still a very raw and painful subject for many.
regardless of your opinions of america, americans, terrorism or anything else you can tie to this, it doesn't change the fact that thousands of people died in a morning that changed our world.
i'll never forget the three minutes it took for me to run from my classroom to a phone, crying so hard i could barely see, to call my father who is a pilot for american airlines -- he was supposed to fly a trip that morning and his trip was out of d.c. i've never felt such relief as when he answered the phone.
so here i am, crying again because the pain is still fresh. i don't expect y'all to understand or care, but please be respectful of our pain. |

| it is easy to say "2800 americans" when it happened here. but yes, i am also mourning the loss of ALL the people who died, regardless of who is american or not. it appears that you guys are mourning everyone EXCEPT americans, so you are doing exactly what you accused me of. |

| trancEyes22 you seem to have no respect or acknowledgement of either the attacks in Bali or the huge desvastation that the USA has caused in the middle east. Sure you can sit there and dish out all your emotional rhetoric about us being the heartless aussies and how you don't want to come to our country anymore because we're all s (you immature racist), but like 90% of the aussies here have said, we DO mourn, respect, and acknowledge the people who lost their lives on the 11th of Sept 2001. What puts us off is your seemingly one sided over-the-top stance on how Americans are the only victims in any of this. It's Americans like you that piss me off, not the ones that died 2 years ago. I feel just as much sorrow for the innocent people that die everyday in the middle east as I do for the REAL victims of Sept 11th, it's just a shame people like you are too ignorant and blind to understand where we are coming from. i was actually refering to the parts where they backup what they hav to say with intelligent, well thought and decently structured arguements and evidence, where as urs is just recited indoctrinated bull and arrogancy. why cant u just take a step outside for a second and see exactly why it is people say these things to america. the whole world can't be wrong. :rolleyes: |

stop twisting his words. I know his post was uncalled for but obviously he was making fun of the Americans that have been whinging in this thread (with the exception of daffodil), not the people who died in the WTC disaster. |

hey do you know what racist is? you're pretty ignorant so i assume no. racist = a hatred toward one race. i didnt know austrailians were a race. :rolleyes:
and the point was, yes i did say that other events that go on in the world are tragic. if you actually went through my posts, you would see that i have the utmost respect for all other countries. you would also see how i said americans are NOT the only victims of this war, which is WHY everyone in the world should feel pain on this day.
the only reason why i brought this up because TODAY IS SEPTEMBER 11th. is it the anniversary of the bali bombings? no. when it is, i will grieve too.
but if you are "so mournful" about sept 11, why are you guys laughing about it? if you want to call me ignorant for not understanding making 9.11 a joke, then so be it. call me ignorant. this thread is pure poo, it shows nothing but austrailians thinking they are the only people in this world affected by 9.11...well HELLO? of course americans are gonna grieve too, along with the rest of the world.
and you know what? if you actually ASKED me something before assuming i was an ignorant, "racist" :conf: bitch, then you would know that i grieve for the continual wars that go on in this world everyday. it was such a shock to americans, because it was not expected there...but in israel and iraq, it is. does that make it right? no. but our country cant do anything about that. we can only grieve the people who died.
so please stop putting words in my mouth. and never again call me a racist. that is the farthest thing from the truth.
