Bugger, didnt want houillier to go, but thinking about it, its probably the best time as now we can get a big manager who wants to try to take the club somewhere. Should get some big names especially as we are in the champions league.
Who will they get as replacement?
Benitez (2-1 favorite) - said yesterday that he wanted to finish his contract with Valencia, so dont think he'll go.
Curbishly (5-2)- good choice. Done well with Charlton, but can he do it in the champions league, i think not.
Martin O' Neill (7-2) - my favorite. Lost count on how many times hes won the league with Celtic now, although i always felt that hed be Alex Fergusons replacement.
J Mourinho (8-1) - Porto boss, but also linked with Chelsea. Perhaps another good option, i mean hes in the champions league final!
Dalglish (12-1) - hes been linked with the job over the last 3 weeks and said hed be interested if the board come to him.. but i dont think they will
Ranieri + Mclaren (12-1) Ranieris done well with Chelsea even before the money came in, and if he gets sacked im sure the odds on him becoming boss at anfield will go up. Mclaren, dont think hes experienced enough in Europe and not a better manager than Houillier.
Didier Deschamps (25-1) hmm.. not enough experience yet
so thats the guys in the running. Take ure pick.
and Cisse i think will still come.. (although fingers crossed!) |

I think expecting Benitez is a bit optimistic. He's just won the Spanish league and the UEFA Cup with Valencia, a side who have the quality to go very far in the Champions League next season. Liverpool have scraped a Champions League place finishing closer to 20th than to 1st. I think staying with Valencia is quite an easy decision.
Jose Mourinho is probably the best option out there and possibly a realistic one as well. He wants to come to England and he's taken Porto as far as they can go. |

Rick Parry has confirmed that French ace Djibril Cisse will still be signing in at Liverpool on schedule on July 1 - and he predicts the Auxerre man will net 20 goals a season for the Reds
There had been some speculation the Cisse deal could be in doubt after the manager who tracked him for three years left the club, but Parry has insisted he will definitely be a Liverpool player next season.
The Reds' chief executive said: "Cisse is a very exciting player with a good goalscoring record. He has pace and power and all the qualities a modern striker needs. He is someone who we believe is capable of scoring 20 goals a season.
"I don't think you could have taken the decision not to sign Cisse just because we have parted company with Gerard."
glad to hear that. |

Farewell Houllier thank you for:
2 League cups (2001 & 2003)
1 FA cup (2001)
1 UEFA cup (2001)
1 Charity Shield (2001)
1 Super Cup (2001)
and breaking the hoodoos at the Old Toilet and Stamford Bridge.
He atleast put hope back into Liverpool's hearts.
I'd want a manager who'd stay to continue success over the next 2 decades :D 14 years without increasing the record of 18 & 4, is way too long. Hopefully it will be next season. |

| Good move for the club getting Benitez and Cisse should be arriving in 2 weeks! Not happy though today after hearing Rick Parry saying that Gerrard may leave to either Chelsea or United. He must stay at the club |

guess what liverpool????
it looks almost certain that Gerrard is leaving now! hahahahahahaha I put your hopes of winning anything without him close to a nice big fat 0. |

| If they do sell Gerrard to Chelsea they will get silly money for him though. Imagine what they could do with that? |
