Heh. So my wish might come true.

Hornets dangle Magloire in trade talks with Raptors

Do the Raptors go for immediate help with Magloire or try building for the future through the draft?

Sportsnet.ca -- The Toronto Raptors are in trade discussions with the New Orleans Hornets for Toronto-native Jamaal Magloire, the New Orleans Times-Picayune in reporting.

The paper says the proposed deal would send Toronto's two first-round picks (No. 7 & 16) to New Orleans in exchange for the Canadian centre. League sources told the paper no other players have been mentioned in the discussions.

According to the report, the sources also said New Orleans wants the deal, but Toronto is hesitant about giving up both first-round picks. Instead, the Raptors would rather package its No. 7 pick with a player off the current roster.

The Hornets already have the fourth overall selection, but it appears the club is trying to build through the draft to avoid having to dip into the free agent market next month.

Magloire was an All-Star selection during the 2003-04 the season, during the Hornets' last season in Charlotte. Selected by the Hornets with their first-round pick in the 2000 NBA draft, Magloire has averaged 9.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in four seasons. The Canadian centre appeared in only 23 games last season due to a fractured right ring finger.

Magloire spends the offseason in Toronto and has expressed in the past how difficult it is for him to leave the city before training camp starts in New Orleans. He has said on several occasions that he would like to return home one day to play in front of his family on a regular basis.

The highest-paid player on the Hornets' roster, Magloire will make approximately $8.5 million a season with two years left on his contract.

The thing is, I don't rate Magloire very highly. Only 9.5 pts/game and 7.4 rebounds for 8.5 mil a season. That's pretty damn expensive. And I don't want the Raps to give up both first rounders just for Magloire.
Though he would be very good support to Bosh up front.

What a pick up he would be. Not sure if he would be worth BOTH 1st round picks. But the Raps definatly need someone of his physical dominance down low. That would take a HUGE load off Bosh, and help save his body.

magloire for both 1st round picks would be a bad deal.....he's a solid player and i would love to see him come to toronto.....but this draft is full of solid players up to around the 20th pick.....the raptors can pick up two guys in this draft who will give them more production combined than magloire could......bottom line....the raps have ALOT of work to do to build a good team again....raptorland is in trouble for at least the next year or two.....unless they find that gem with one of their picks...

ing stupid bab

Villenueva? Over May?
WHY THE !
EvilTree
Well, The Craptors are 0-6 so far.

Good game though. The Raps took the Supersonics to overtime, just to lose. Charlie Villanueva had a good game. So did Mike James and Jose Calderon. (Where did they come from?)

Lots of young guys and the veterans aren't doing a good job. Jalen looked like he's resigned to a bad season.

Dunno if the Raps fans are willing to sit for another rebuilding year.

who'd they beat?

edit: WHOA, HEAT? Nice...

I guess Raps are back to the same old... they suck when playing against average teams, and kick the out of the playoff contenders. :D

the raptors probably won't win this game against the mavs....but at least raptors games are becoming enjoyable to watch...they're really starting to compete and stay in there down the stretch!
Sly_Guy
yeah compete^

we still won't win 30 this season.

A heartbreaker tonight as Jason Terry hits a runner at the buzzer to beat the raps.

The Raps are very entertaining to watch. It's just they lose all the time.

Trade Jalen for a centre like now plz.

no one's gonna take jalen's contract......but next year, the raps have the salary cap to do whatever the they want.

Then and only then will I pass judgement on babcock.

Plus the 2 first rounders they have next draft also...

I gotta give Babpoints for having the balls to do what he's doing though.
