But the point's being raised aren't completely irrelevant to the topic given. Yes the thread has developed, but find me a thread on TA that doesn't evolve onto other things. It's unnessasariy to go starting new threads as soon as a topic starts to deviate from it's original point, especially when nothing is stopping people from coming in and commenting on the very original post if they choose to anyway. There's thread hijacking where gimp's completely ruin the original purpose of a thread, and then there's slight deviation from an original point made resulting in a good debate / discussion. In this case it's definitely the latter.

Back at you.

I agree that BBB has merit as a dj, but I don't like him and he is definitely not one of the best mixers out there. I think he is one of the most diverse dj's out there, because he can mix alright and has technical merit behind it. But I think he plays crap house, and I like a good share of house music. It's a matter of preference though. To each his own.

L - The reason PVD can do that when he's playing a trance set is that almost every record he plays, especially vandit, is around 139 bpm. There is some variance, but the range is probably from 138-144 for 95% of his records. It allows him to have that lazy attitude, but it didn't pay off for him last time he was here. Probably the worst set technically, of his, that I have seen. Track selection was actually good, way better than the other times I have seen him in the last year or so. I understand that he can do it when he wants to, but that is a terrible excuse. Sasha performs night in and night out, regardless of the venue/city. That's the way it should be.

Thank you Laushinameee for the great exchange of ideas we had in this thread. :)

I gained some additional insight on FS which I had not had before.

FS has no advantage to actual 'mixing' the mixing process is exactly same, what it DOES help is finding the tracks faster since it will be from your computer/laptop instead of record crates.. also since you can have ALL your music on your computer, youll have access to so much more.. access within seconds to wider variety of music rather than the limited amount of records you'd actually take to a gig... that will give djs much more options to what they can play which will/can make the sets more interesting and innovative.

That is an interesting observation. I think someone should ask PVD this in an interview.

I don't think he'd admit to being lazy, but you never know.

I think this has been a great thread, and I believe that the FS convo derived from the original topic. FS as it relates to a dj's ability to mix well. Sure there was a digression, but far less than most threads on TA, IMO. At least this has been an intelligent discussion that people can learn from.

Ive seen him admit to being lazy of his own accord, but if a guy asks him something like that in an interview it will be a very short interview. Hes a good artist & dj, but he seems like a right twat. Although in his early days (when he was better) he used to mouth off all the time saying 'x dj is ', 'y dj is '. He wanted to be the best, and believed he was the best. Now its all about 'respect' in his old age :haha: I think maybe rather than losing the will to perform, hes lost the will to be the best. Sure its an arrogant way to think, but it seems to drive him more than anything else.

^ agree

It's not like it's completely derailed from the original topic anyway... just variated slightly. Interesting read too (from most people).

I'd rather have his WBMX hot mixes from 1988 which are the ones I suggested in my original post.

Well he was playing also playing "cheesy" tracks on WBMX when the Hot Mix 5 had him do guest mixes in 1988. He's almost always played music that seems cheesy to one person or another. You're confusing cheesy with good. Good is not the boring that sasha/digweed/other plays. House with vocals is not cheesy. The truth is, it doesn't matter what music he plays--the fact is neither you, nor sasha, nor digweed, nor sander k, nor any other trance DJ will ever be as skilled as he is.

He still deserves respect from people who know what's up. AKA non-tranceheads. Just ask Frankie Bones.

He wouldn't want to hold a mix for more than 40 seconds, he's a real DJ.

Which is why he's better.

OH , HTEYY'RE MASTERS OF THE CROSSFADER!!!

how dare you even compare BBB to sasha and digweed. these djs are

pioneers in the edm scene you shmuck. go get a life and get trained

mr. tranceaddict in training that knows more than people have been

doing this for years.

Baby Anne. The mixing on her Mixed Live in Las Vegas album is ing amazing. And she's always been very consistent.
