for tightness, it is hard to beat a marco V set i saw at gatecrasher a couple of years ago. also theres sasha who is usually pretty flawless.

for sheer ing skill, umek, zabiela, hawtin, cox.

anyone who puts ferry corsten/tiesto/armin/pvd/any trance DJ you care to mention next to these for pure mixing skill needs their head looking at :)

If you think Bad Blue Bill is better DJ skill wise than Sasha, Diggers, or Sander than you need to get your head checked. Wake up !! The year is 2004 not 1991

What are you talking about? I thought he played Hard House for most of the 90's. Just because Markski played Eurodance along side him on B95 doesn't mean Bill also did. Anyway, the thread is about best mixing we've ever heard. Not bext mixing from 2004. I can't say his mixing is the same as it was back in the late '80s, and I didn't. But you still can't deny that he 100% without a doubt knows how to use a technics 1200 in practically every way, which is more than can be said for those semi-DJ's that you list there. There is nothing wrong with any music he's played--Synthpop, "Euro-Cheese", Disco House, Hard House, or anything else. He has excellent taste in House. You, however, do not. Choose any BBB set from any year and you instantly have more interesting music than the boring drivel that those wankers play. Again, you probably think you youself are a good mixer, so your opinion is pretty much in that entire field.

surprised Steve Lawler wasn't mentioned, love his mixing.

Ozgur Can has brilliant sets, smooth mixing! You don't even hear that a new track is coming in, .... it's also his build-up, the tracks have simmilar styles, but then really similar..

Paul Van Dyk Live @ Energy [2003-08-10]

Wrong. I have all his sets form B96 on tape from 1991-2000. When I was a kid I would listen to the mix show on B96 every thurs, fri. sat. nights. He was never a good mixer because he would do alot of quick cuts, scratch mixes, etc. He was good back in the day no doubt( not because of his mixing but because he played awesome house music).

If you live in the USA PM me your address and I'll set you all the cheesy and poor sets I have of him from the late 90's that I recorded off the radio.

He copied DJ Markski during the late 90's. Why? Markski was getting huge bookings in Chicago playing Euro-Cheese so Bad Boy Bill decided he would copy his style to get bookings too. Again, I’ll send you the mix tapes if you want proof. Sell Out~

This is the main reason why he receives no respect from me. Bad boy Bill sold out. He ed over house music for Chicago. He did nothing to rebuild the scene since 1995. He and the other clowns were the reason Chicago lost its only dance music channel in 2001 and partially responsible for the 'dark age' of EDM in Chicago.

If you want to hear a good Chicago house music listen to

Frankie ‘Hollywood’ Rodriguez

or

Frankie Knuckles

Agreed. In the late 80's this man was insane. He was true Chicago.

He can scratch but he isnt a better mixer than Sasha, Digweed, or Sander. Listen and compare their transitions. Bad Blue Bill can’t hold a mix for more than 40 sec. until he needs to scratch or back spin to get out of the ensuing train wreck. Unlike Sasha who can hold a mix for 2-3 min. listen to his Ibiza sets. That is true skill.

BBB style isn’t about long tight mixes. It quick rough cuts. He'll do to make the mixing interesting ( i.e. he'll scratch or throw down samples etc.) Trust me I've listened to this old man since the 80's.

Sasha, Digweed, Sander semi- DJ's ?? Blasphemy!!
Do you think before you type? :haha: Its obvious you don't know what the your talking about.

These statements give me proof why your opinions are worthless.

There are some really e ones on it as well. World Service is dominated by a mixing style that I like to call "punk mixing". It means that the DJ doesn't really care that much about getting the transitions right, as long as the tunes go well together and keep the energy up. Dave does this a lot, I remember reading one of his TLs where he mixed Art Of Noise - Moments In Love into Jamie Anderson - Tornado :wtf:

Otherwise, I have to point out TAs very own DJ Dawn. While his trackselection usually isn't my cup of tea, his oldschool german hard trance sets never cease to amaze me in terms of precision and energy while mixing at the breakneck speeds that he is known for.

oh dear.

sure richie hawtin was once really good, he still is really good in a way... although in 2002 he started to get really hung up on final scratch, and his mixing became really .

carl cox isnt about good mixing, im not criticising him, he just isnt all about solid mixing. Just look at his Global CD, which is really badly mixed and has a booklet filled with 'excuses' :haha:

i find it strange how a guy who used to think mauro picotto was the worlds greatest techno dj is telling me to get a clue :stongue:

to be fair, i haven't seen richie hawtin since global gathering 2 years ago, so you may well be right on that one.

regarding cox, whenever i have seen him, technically he has been spot on and very much on the ball. like i give a what he puts down on a CD, at least he didnt sit there and do retakes until he got it right.

i never ever thought picotto was the worlds greatest techno DJ, and i have never stated that he is the most technically gifted. i do however always say he is one of my FAVORITE dj's (if not THE favorite of all time). there is a distinct difference.

i am not about to sit here arguing with a clueless wit (again), so please, give it up now.
