Hi there TranceMee.
DJ Pippins here. It was nice seeing you. It's always nice to meet some TA people here. You have my cell #, buddy!. And how come you never introduced your lady? I introduced my lady to you.
So, how was Sander ? I did see one of the guys hurt and bleeding, but did not know it was because of the stabbing!.
If you ask me, it's always the damn asians!. PVD did lose his train of thought I guess after 3:00 AM. But I enjoyed dancing to the encore. The track was I FEEL YOU by Paul Hepper, Germany, I think!
Trance in Peace.

Hello djeternal
I was there. I had a white TA shirt on. I was approached by couple of TA forum posters here. So I was wondering if you saw me. I was mostly hanging out on the second floor.
the last encore track was "I FEEL YOU". I beleive it could be by Paul Hepper!.
Peace.

pretty crazy night!! i was on the 2nd floor looking down at all the madness when the fight broke out!! some dood got stabbed and PvD even stopped spinning to look at it all :eyespop: i've never seen a dj just stop spinning like that because of trouble on the floor... it was quite an embarassing moment for nyc.
there was barely enough room to bust glowsticks until around 3:30. we set off a circle in the back and half the crowd was watching us! it was so tight!! :disbelief way too many people and NOT ENOUGH ROOM. really bad planning on Ikon's behalf, there could have been a LOT more room but they wanted to pack us all in like sardines :( |

I can agree with almost everyone on the fact that PvD had a supreme set and that O'Bir was great, but def. should headline. Anyone have any live sets by O'Bir for d/l?
He couldn't have picked a better track than Xpander for the countdown...:toocool:
anyone see the asian with the bloody face not even being helped by the bouncer as he staggered towards the bathrooms? unbelievable!
I worked at Exit over the summer when it first became "Ikon" as a Pink Room DJ and can truly say that I am not suprised by the unorganized security. GK and Sony did a great job with the party, but Exit is just haunted by bad luck, no matter how much it changes. |

I had an absolute blast! This was one of the best PvD set in the US ever, definitely on par with his WMC/Space sets and towards the end, as hard as his Central Park gig last summer, minus the monsoon. The only real complaint I have about his performance is that the mixing was a little iffy at times. If it was a bit smoother or creative, then it just might have been the best set he ever spun in NYC. PvD finally picked just the right amount of classics, happy trance, hard trance and a bit of techno thrown in for good measure. Since I happen to like when he spins harder, darker stuff it, was a welcome thing that the majority of his set leaned in that direction, especially the latter part of it. Thankfully, he wasn’t repeating tracks like Nothing But You four times. Good thing too, because since I was chilling in the balcony right above the booth, I honestly would have thrown something at him.
While his mixing was less than stellar, his track selection was perfect, flowing smoothly and winding the crowd up for a dark crescendo towards the end of the night. It’s a good thing that he extended his set, considering that a short set like his recent American sets last year would have been highway robbery because of the exorbitantly high ticket prices. In spite of the expensive tickets, the place was still packed wall to wall on every floor. While this is hardly new for an NYE in NYC with a major DJ spinning, considering just how big a venue Ikon is (literally one of the biggest clubs in the world), it was still a bit surprising. Since there were other parties going on in the various rooms, the crowd was very mixed. While there was a good amount of PvD fans, at least half the crowd were either tourists who wanted to flash money at a “big New York club” or people spilling over from the other rooms. At most NYE parties like this, the crowd usually thins out by 2am since having celebrated midnight by getting faced, most tourists stumble back to their hotels. This time, it looked as if no one left until PvD was done at 6:30. People were probably too cheap to leave, having spent all that money.
Considering the mayhem on the dance floor, most of us found a perfect spot on the balcony above the booth. The sound wasn’t too bad…we could actually have a conversation without yelling and there were plenty of couches to lounge on as well as room to jump around. The view from the balcony made me feel like a Roman emperor watching the plebs below. The gladiatorial combat that would break out below every now and then added to the effect. One melee actually ended with four people getting knifed. Who the stabs people at a trance party? Don’t people roll anymore?!? Fortunately, my fellow Groovanauts and I got to enjoy the party from the safety of the balcony, from where this turned out to be one of the best NYE parties in NY in a long time. |
