Should the guy pay for the date?

so, someone just got pissed on me big time cause i didnt pay for my date's supper (my date didn't get pissed, but my host mum). So i was woundering, you think the guy should pay for supper if you go out for a date?

Personally i have nothing against paying for supper, but then i also excpect her to pay for me some other time, so either some kind of every other time, or seperate bills. If the girl excpect me to pay every time im seriously not thinking she is worth my time, but then again it might be because im used to another culture :conf:

And i know there was a similar thread a while back, but i cant find it!

If its a first or second date...I say the dude should pay

But if the girl is cool with you not paying. Then what the heck?!

I pay the majority of the time, which I'm cool with. But if Lisa actually has money and wants to pay, then by all means!

You just discovered true canadian culture my friend....

Canadian culture = equality ends when the bill comes LOL

Nice to see there are cultures out there where men arent completely whipped though. I think i may move to sweden. LOL

why is it host mom's business anyways?

To answer your question, money should never be an issue. If shes a decent person it will just work itself out and sometimes u get it and sometimes she will get it. However in Canada that will basically leave you single for the rest of your life.

Advice: wait till you get back to a normal society before you date ;)

Pro-Tip: Dutch girls really DO pay.

Seriously.

tip: most societies that preach equality are such where men are not expected to always pay.

Actually the term "go Dutch" on a date means that you and your date split the expense, or each pay for your own ticket, etc. this is a more modern way to date, as opposed to the more traditional "man pays for you" approach.

my gf and i for two years have alternate back and forth between paying most the time. we don't actually keep track, but we subconsciously do it fairly enough so its as close to equal usually.

i mean, this isn't the 50's where the man supports the stay at home wife. my gf and i have the same sort of part time job, make approx the same wage, so why should the guy be expected to pay all the time. its not like we have a goldmine or something. luckily i've never had that financial problem when dating though, its just always seemed to work out. (on another note don't be a cheap skate either, as long as shes not a high maintence bitch, it will usually work out fine). btw, yet another reason why you don't try to pick up 'long relationship' girls at a bar/club by getting them a drink. do ppl actually do that btw? or just a one nite stand thing? i'm outta the loop on that one, but i think its pretty sad picking ppl up in clubs, but if i get into that i'm going to be typing way to much...done.

If this was the 1st date then you shouldn't have gone out to dinner. It's better to go for a drink or coffee. Pay for this one so you don't look like a cheap ass and get to know her better. That way when you do go out for a more expensive date you know if she's worth paying for or if she's the type of girl that will offer to pay her share.
