I was spanked, and I was whipped (belt strap) when I was little (not very often though... I was a really well behaved kid). I know I probably deserved it, and I don't blame my mother in using the method.
However, you have to be careful how long you take the physical discipline for. You can't be hitting a 15 year old because they will retaliate.
In short, if used properly, spanking as a method of discipline can be very good for the child in my opinion.

Luckily you didn't come out as the abusive type, I've known guys who hit their g/f's & were hit a lot less then most but they blame it on seeing their father hit their mother...which makes no ing sense. This just proves my point on growing up to change things you were exposed to as a child. It pisses me off some men use that excuse. |

Yeah, I got some spanking when I was little...never did whatever I was punished for again. Honestly though I can only remember one time I got spanked. Don't think ever I got spanked more than 5 times.
I'm such a good kid anyway. Never caused any problem, good in school, etc etc. :p |

| I got the spanked out of me growing up. I plan on spanking, but until I have kids of my own, my mind could change. Everyone has to find what works for them. My brother does NOT spank his kids despite being power whipped like myself and his kids seem to be turning out ok. My sister however DOES spank her kids and they seem a bit more well behaved than my brother's. It depends also on the kid too I guess. |
