Does hanging break a persons neck or does it strangle them? *serious question* I certainly hope it will be instant, would hate to know that he struggled for 8 mins like someone said earlier. I'd die if was to be one of my family members or friends involved in something like this, and i'm sure most that think he should be executed would feel the same it was a loved one in the same position.
Do you think those that are in favour of capital punishment would feel the same if they were made to witness an execution?? I reckon the majority would change there mind. Not that i've ever seen one of course.

I think it does both, since the neck is quite fragile, the distance they drop u may be little but it can pull bones out of place destorying the neck and obviously as you fall, the knot on the rope tightens which strangles you blocking all the airpipes. Also blood rushs to your brain very quickly so that might even kill you first.

it may not be the best way to deal with what actually happened, but if the country doesnt uphold its laws because it is being leaned on by a larger trading partner then it will lose face.
people seem to forget that the drug we are talking about here is heroin, HEROIN FOR S SAKE. not only is there a risk of overdose, but there is a huge risk of HIV, hep b etc being propogated through needle sharing. i think its quite stupid to distance the crime from what may happen down the line because its what happens down the line that could potentially affect more people than the overdoses themselves.
let him hang, he ed up. if he didnt know the consequences, he was just plain ignorant |

| Being hung means you are dead in about 15 seconds, not 8 minutes as someone mentioned. |

The idea is it breaks your neck. That big knot that they do is supposed to be positioned in a specific spot so that between the jerk and the knot it snaps your neck. Sometimes (only rarely though I believe) it doesn't work and you either not die from broken neck or it doesn't break your neckm, and then you strangle.

Apparently it depends on the 'drop' and the hangman's expertise. At least this hangman has had plenty of experience. If you read the ways you can die when you're hung commonsense says it's not instant and it's not humane. Dogs get a better deal when they're put down.
Whatever, capital punishment [ie killing] is WRONG.!!

I think the issue being discussed is a little more important then scoring points and I probably shouldn't have made that comment but I feel so sad and angry when I see people cheering on the killing of a fellow human being.
I'm prepared to take responiblity for my comments but if you want it deleted just say so. |

myself, i could care less what happens to him because what he did could have led to the death of many more |
